On March 4, 1884 she was united in marriage with Joseph Carroll, and of this union two children were born, one of whom, Carrie, died in infancy in the year 1889 and two weeks later the husband and father was also called by death On October 23, 1891, she was united in marriage with W.C. Humphrey and shortly thereafter removed to Kahoka, where she made her home until called to the home above. She had been an invalid for a number of years and had suffered much, so that death brought release from pain and misery and opened the door to rest and peace. She is survived by her husband, W.C. Humphrey; a daughter, Mrs. Paralee Papajohn of Mt Pleasant, Iowa; a granddaughter, Miss Alma Ruth Scrimsher, also of Mt Pleasant, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Henry Smith; and a niece, Mrs. Clara Farris of Keokuk, and many friends who will mourn her departure. At the age of 21 years she professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and united with the M.E. Church, South, and in this faith she lived and died. As she felt the end approaching she spent much time in prayer and expressed herself as being confident of the forgiving love of the Christ. And thus she passed to the other side, reconciled to God, and confident of a welcome to that city, whose Maker and Builder is God. The funeral service, conducted by C.E. Newton, was held from the home at 2:00pm on Monday, February 20, and interment was made in Kahoka cemetery. May the Lord in His love minister abundantly to those who mourn The pallbearers were Levi Alexander, T.L. Montgomery, E.C. Bloom, H.B. Montgomery, Henry Meyer and J.W.
