Thanks for the comments all! I should have gone on a bit about my reason for asking how you'd feel if you discovered photos of your grandparents or great grandparents grave on a website. I have just such a website. It is somewhat extensive in photographs of grave stones. It seems that several times I have directed new found relatives to my web address and thought the'd be overjoyed at such easy access to their history and the bonus photographs that I have traveled thousands of miles to get. The relative visits my website and I never hear from them again. Go figure ... My first guess is that they were shocked and offended to discover the graves of their close ancestors publicly displayed. I assume they didn't want to complain and just refrain from further contact. My inclination is to remove the photos. BUT, if I discovered a website full of photos of graves I might never be able to visit, I'd be thrilled! Another of life's little dilemmas ... Mitch
What you have probably come across are takers. They might have downloaded your stuff and never bothered to say thank you. This world is full of people who will take whatever they can get and don't bother to share what they have. It takes all kinds and we have to put up with them. I would urge you to keep your web site in tact. Connie Street ckcasey@louisacomm.net Pray for peace. Mitch, some people just can't handle anything to do with death. I think people who are into genealogy are a bit "different", as we see the inhabitants of cemeteries as departed friends, not something or someone to be avoided at all costs. You might want to warn members of your family that the photos are there, so they can avoid them if they wish. In fact, you might make that a separate part of your website if you haven't already done so.
