I need help. If anyone can help me I would be willing to try to help back as I am in Jefferson City where the state archives are and could do some looking. It seems that my GGgrandfather Benjamin DAWSON, married a Lizzie HOBBS when he was 58 and she was 19 or 20. I have looked for their marriage record and that is all the information that is on the license. I did look at census records and that is why I think that Lizzie was only 19 at the time of their marriage. I found her listed as one of 10 children in a census that would have made her 19 in 1890. I guess marriage to an older man was preferable to life in a 10 children household. It appears that 7 years later she and Benjamin had a son, Rockleigh. There is a grave for Benjamin Dawson in Kahoka but all it says is his name, OUR FATHER and no dates for birth or death. I have tried the usual routes for obtaining more information, but the cemetery has become progressively owned by the town and they don't have records going back far enough. All these dead ends are driving me nuts. Would there be a birth certificate for ROCKLEIGH, a death certificate for Benjamin or Lizzie Hobbs? Where do I look next? I don't know when Benjamin died. If I found Rockleigh's death certificate would it list his parents? Where do I turn next? Help. Peggy
