June 17, 1900 - Aug 27, 1901 In another book I have - The Last Reunion, The Story of Clark County's Civil War Veterans, Book I - there is an article on Thomas Harsch celebrating his 94 birthday. Gives his birthdate as June 27, 1846, married Mary Case in 1865 and tells about him being taken prisoner. I will be glad to send you a copy of this if this is your ancestor. I received my Cemetery Book from a friend. Wilma Dunlap. 950 E. Rue De La Banque apt 201, St. Louis, MO 63141-5162 complied this book. When I wrote to her a month (abt another book) she said she had one cemetery book left at $30.00 and one that the index had water damage for $20.00. You might try writing to her to see if she still has them. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can look up any thing else for you. Good Luck with you research. 3. Hello, I am new to the list. I am looking for any info whatever about my grandfather ABNER G. UPDIKE, who was known to be in WYACONDA, Clark Co, MO in September 1907. He left his family in early October of that year after a business failure which seemed to cause him to be extremely paranoid. A letter from him written in Wyaconda to his daughter Alice Updike SHOGER in Kendall Co, IL has recently been discovered. The letter stated that he was working (husking corn) for a J. C. ATWOOD at Wyaconda. He had to pawn his watch and sell most of his suits to make ends meet. The letter was basically a request for his daughter to send the rest of his suits and address the package to Mr. Atwood. Abner was born near and was living in Oswego, Kendall Co, IL at the time of his disappearance. It was in the papers of that area because he happened to be mayor of Oswego as well. Any info at all will be appreciated very much! Regards, Dale A. Updike Saskatchewan, Canada PS Abner's wife could not stand the scandal, gossip and missplaced blame, and decided to move what was left of her family here to Canada in 1911. It is possible that her husband died around that time and so she finally felt justified in leaving, but that is only a theory. He COULD have died in MO. DU

The marriage entry is very legible and leaves little doubt as to the spelling. The name is definitely Serry and not Perry. Attempting to link a Jasper Newton Perry born 1857, Missouri, to the Jasper Newton married in 1856. Anyone familiar with or researching the Perry's of Clark County ca 1855? R&G

    1. [MOCLARK-L] Finding Clarence RAINE
    2. Andy or Annie Utick
    3. You might try writing to the MO Bureau of Vital Records, P. O. Box 570, Jefferson City, MO 65102. They have records beginning in 1910 and, for your $10.00, will do a 10-year search (for 5 years on either side of a "beginning death year.") If they find the record, they send that to you, at no extra charge beyond the $10.00. Sounds like you may have to have several searches done to find him, if his death was recorded in MO; using beginning death years of, for instance, 1921 (1916-1926 searched) and 1932 (1927-1937 searched). The phone no. at that office is (573) 751-6387. Their official application form asks for full name, place of death, sex, date of death, race, date of birth, age (at death, I presume), SSN, if known; spouse's name, father's name, and mother's name. It also requests the "Purpose for which certified copy is to be used," and a description of your relationship to the person named on the certificate. So, if you are just going to write a letter requesting the death record, you'll want to include as much of this info. as you can. Good luck! 1. [MOCLARK-L] Question re: Deaths 1917-1937 MO
    2. HELP :-) I am running out of ideas to find my GGgrandfather, Clarence Erwin(Irwin?) RAINE. Could someone perhaps give some suggestions, Please :-) I need a fresh perspective, or something!! I think my best bet for finding what happened to Clarence RAINE would be if there were some "Death Index" for Missouri for the time frame of 1917 thru 1937. Does anyone know if there is one? if so, is it only by county? I am pretty sure Clarence died before 1937, as he is not listed as "surviving" child on his father's Obit.... Here are the facts: 1) Clarence Raine was born 06/1891 in Kansas City, Jackson County, MO to parents Oscar (Oskar) Turner Raine and Nelly S Cully. 2) Clarence joined the military 04/27/1912, and later joined the Oregon National Guards on 01/10/1916. 3) While in OR he married my GGgrandmother, Edith Hannah NELSON (from IA) in Vancouver, WA. 4) Their son, James Erwin RAINE was born 12/13/1915 in Portland, OR. 5) Clarence deserted Edith and son in April 1916. 6) Clarence was last seen in a divorce attorney's office on 09/28/1916. 7) Clarence's OR National Guard unit disbanded on 12/18/1916 8) Edith received her divorce in June 1918 without the courts being able to find where Clarence went to... He could have 1) Stayed in Oregon 2) Moved to California, as his "friend" thought he did 3) moved back home to Clark County, Missouri or 4) moved to some off-the-wall location or been abducted by aliens. Things I have Already Checked, but he is not listed on: Social Security Death Index (also, I really think he died prior to 1937) 1920 Censuses for: OR, WA, CA, NV, IA, MO Death Indexes for: CA 1916-1970 , Oregon, Mult Co, and WA Most all Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, WA area Cemeteries & funeral homes Department of the Oregon National Guard & archive division Department of defense- military records, archives Draft registrations WWI LDS CD-Rom listing of "vital records available on film" Bear Creek Cemetery, MO (where his family is buried, except for him) and dozens of message boards that will allow me to post my line... If after all this, you have an idea that might help me... PLEASE let me know... I would be eternally grateful !!!!!!! 3. Good morning, I just wanted to let people know that I have moved my 21st Missouri Vol Infantry homepage to a new url. You can find it at... http://www.geocities.com/mo21infantry/index.html The 21st Missouri Vol. Infantry was made up of men from the areas of Scotland, Lewis, Knox, Clark, Adair, and Schuyler Counties of Missouri and some of the surrounding IL and IA counties. The site has been updated to include DETAILED descriptive muster roll info for each soldier ( I finally finished Co. F thru K!) History of the regiment, Officers, including some photographs, after action reports on such battles as Shiloh and Corinth, documents etc. I hope you'll stop by for a visit. 3. Hi Rod, Thanks for looking them up for me. The reason I thought they were there is because they were listed in the 1860 Clark County, Missouri Census. Madison Township, Post Office-Waterloo, June 1860 Do you know were the Historical Society is located there in Clark County? Thanks again, Craig -----Original Message----- From: rod martinez <rodsuemartinez1@prodigy.net> To: MOCLARK-L@rootsweb.com <MOCLARK-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, May 16, 2000 12:17 PM Subject: Re: [MOCLARK-L] Crowl >Hi Craig: > >I found no entries for CROWL in the Clark co cemetery Book.
