Christian County did not become a county until 1859. I am researching the William Crain family who lived in Greene county twice in the 1840's, probably in that region which later became Christian county as their Grandson; A.C. Crain settled there as a young adult, left to serve in the Union Army in the Civil War and returned to live out his life in Christian county. He was first mayor of Sparta and also sheriff for a time. He was also Superintendant of the Poorhouse as enumerated on the 1870 census. Anyone with any information on these families, please contact me.
