I have been in contact with a MCNABB researcher in the past who shared information with me. Perhaps she was the same person that you are referring to. =============================================================== Here's an old message probably from about 1998: Hello there, I was given your names by Vickie who found me on the internet. I am a direct descendant of Catherine. Catherine is my great great grandmother. Her daughter is Nancy Louise McNabb Jackson Hursh my great grandmother. Her daughter is Ethel Hursh my grandmother. I received your information from Vickie on the Upton line. Does anyone have any information on the McNabb family or where Catherine married him? I think his name was William McNabb although my family tree ( done by a great uncle by handwriting it) shows his name as Lou McNabb ( Nancy was named after him and her gravestone says Lou McNabb). My whole family on my grandmother's side is buried in Union Oregon. John Morris Hursh my great grandfather and Nancy's husband came from Harrison AR in 1891 with the Uptons. Josephine Upton was married to Thomas Graham and they are buried next to the Upton vault in Union Cemetery. John Morris Hursh owned several saw mills in the Union vicinity and he was a carpenter by trade. Nancy Louise McNabb Jackson was married prior to marrying Mr. Hursh to a Jackson in AR who died breaking a horse. John Morris Hursh was also married prior to Mahala Brisco who died in 1885 giving birth to twin girls who also died. They are buried in Cozahome AR. <snip> Thanks, Diana Yashar in Salem OR ================================================================== Diana is a direct descendant of Catherine Bledsoe McNabb UPTON. Although my BLEDSOES were in AR, I have a collection of all the census records on them from the time they were in Washington County, TN to Christian County, MO, and nothing on Alabama. It could well be that the BLEDSOES in Alabama were true BLEDSOES, and therefore not a part of my group who in reality were actually BEDSAULS and somehow had a name change after their arrival in Madison County, AR after 1850. Possibly because they were of German descendant and may not have spoken very good English, the census takers may have decided they were to be listed as BLEDSOES and they just accepted it and never made a correction. I know that thereafter, they were known as BLEDSOES and BLEDSAWS! :) Jean Cuevas At 09:47 AM 1/8/2006 -0600, you wrote: >Jean, >I had a very strong feeling that the Bledsoe's were connected in some way to >the Manning's and McNabb's in marriage.
