    1. [MOCHRIST] Re: Caves
    2. I have been asked by three of you about the Cave family of Christian/Greene Co. an this is what I have researched along with many other descendants. Elsie Doke and I worked many years on the CAVE WOODY VAUGHN families. All of the census records are not listed but these are proofed up as well as available records can provide many times from tracing allied lines and the process of elimination. If you have any questions, you may e-mail me directly. I have tried to put my research in the county books and this line is included in the Christian Co. Book available in the library. Glennis Webb Horn Descendants of John Cave, Sr. Generation No. 1 1. JOHN1 CAVE, SR. was born 1764 in Orange Co., Virginia, and died Aft. 1850 in Surry Co., North Carolina. Notes for JOHN CAVE, SR.: A marriage for John Cave, Sr. has not been found. It seems that he is the son of a William Cave but is it the William who married Mary Mallory Cave of Orange Co. Va. ? or the William Cave of Orange Co. Va.,who married Jeriah Davis and died in Ky.? He is related to Bartlett Cave who is possibly his brother as both families were in Orange and Surry Co., N.C., together. It is believed that these men married sisters. 1. [MOCHRIST] Misadventures in Sparta
    2. Brenda Gardner
    3. Hello everybody! I have had a hard drive crash at work and spent many hours fixing the problem. Therefore, I received a chunk of comp time this last week. I spent it reading the Sparta cemetery. I had about 70 hours of work in the prep stages before I ever got to the cemetery (I type sloooowww.). It was a beautiful day on Friday, so I spent about 9 hours reading the cemetery and checking it against my 112 pages of preassembled names and dates. I made corrections and added the newcomers. By the end of the day, I was about 2/3's done. I decided to take it easy on myself and go back on Saturday to finish. I made the 45 minute drive home feeling quite satisfied with life -- UNTIL I got in my driveway. I reached for my book and remembered the last place I saw it was on the trunk of my car in the cemetery. I made the 45 minute drive in 5:00 traffic back to Sparta. About a mile from the cemetery I started seeing fluttering pieces of paper strewn along a fence row. My brain did not want to compr! ehend what I was seeing, believe you me. I pulled into the driveway in the middle of the fence row just behind the lady who lived there. She had just arrived home from work to find that she had been "papered". She helped me pick up the pages --even driving out into her field to retrieve a couple. I got to dodge 5:00 Friday evening Highway 14 traffic -- crossing the road to get what had strayed. I then drove the road and walked the ditches for another mile or so on each side of her property. I am covered in chiggers and bites -- but I found all but five of the pages! So after much trial and tribulation, I am ecstatic to annouce that the Sparta Cemetery reading is online and ready for your researching pleasure. If there was a medal for cemetery listers you surely would win one ! A thousand thanks for all you do ! Jo P.S. Perhaps a gallon of Calamine lotion for the chigger bites would be a better prize? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brenda Gardner" To: Sent: Monday, September 08, 2003 10:01 PM Subject: [MOCHRIST] Misadventures in Sparta > Hello everybody! My brain did not want to compr! > ehend > what I was seeing, believe you me. > > Still scratching those darn Christian County Chiggers, > Brenda > > > > Brenda Gardner > Christian County GenWeb Coordinator > http://www.rootsweb.com/~mochrist/ > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
