    3. Actually, there are several death certificates that call the Delaware cemetery Howard Cemetery. The Howard's did own land in that area. It remains to be proven to me if the cemetery was casually called that by the locals, or if that was its' original name. Off the top of my head, I don't think the stones I read that now are reported to be in "Howard" cemetery looked like they had been moved, but my memory is a scary thing on which to rely. The Delaware Church originally stood a good distance west of the present cemetery. Perhaps when the Church was moved up to the cemetery location, they renamed the cemetery? The Church is now gone as well. I seem to recall a tale of broken wagons, (hurt horses?) moving the Church up the hill. Again, my memory is usually faulty. Brenda "Mabel G. I went back and looked in Stephenson again. The county in which he listed Self Cemetery was Dade County, not Barry County. Even there, the location is all question marks, indicating that it was reported but not specifically located. The Possum Trot in Laclede County is also called Mount Zion and is Section 24 of 33N 17 W. Nonetheless, the names you report may indeed have been used for Union Ridge since so many cemeteries accumulate multiple names. ==== MOCHRIST Mailing List ==== Check out the Christian Co Missouri, MOGenWeb site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mochrist/ ============================== View and search Historical Newspapers.
