James was a Corporal in the Union Army , during the Civil War , and was wounded in the wrist was taken prisoner and released . After the War he lived on his 160 acre farm just south of Billings , and was a member of the G.A.R. in Billings so my ggrandfather Jackson O Haile , who lived in Billings and had a Hotel there must have known him as they were sort of cousins from Tennessee . James father was Mark W Hale and his mother was Mary Polly Mulkey , James goes back to the Nicholas Haile II and Francis Garrett , so does my Jackson O Haile . Jack Haile
