    1. Re: [MOCHRIST] McCroskey, Sanders, Casebolt--church affiliations
    2. Kerry, My ancestor, the Rev. James Wright Edwards of Nixa, was a Disciples of Christ minister who was a preacher in Rosedale/Riverdale. However, based on what I've found about the churches in the Nixa area, the churches largely were nondenominational Protestant, even when they nominally were founded by members of a denomination. Simply too few church-going types existed to support a distinct denominational church. Churches often had multiple services on a Sunday with one or more denominations involved in each. Faught Church (later officially Church of Christ/Christian Church in Nixa), Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, Rosedale, Union Hill and others opened their doors to just about anyone who would preach, although many of these churches brought their Church of Christ/Disciples affiliations from Middle Tennessee. The denominations (except in larger towns and cities) didn't seem to take hold until after World War I. Randy
