Irene, I have had no luck finding who George Washington Adamson's father was. It seem's like I have come to a brick wall on this family member. I will indeed share any information on him when I find it. Good luck too.

Hi Don, Thanks for your reply. I have been at a dead end forever on Lula's family, descendants, and whatever happened to her. I didn't think that it was likely, but one can try! :) My mother's mother was Lula's sister. And, (my grandmother, Florence) married an ALSUP who's father lived in Ada, OK at some point in time. The ALSUPS lived in several small towns around Tulsa...among them a place called, Slick and Broken Arrow. Sometimes, time has a way of bringing some answers, and maybe when you do find the Christian County REED connection, something will come to light. :) Thanks again. Hi Margaret, Thanks for this. I'm cross-eyed from studying maps. I have been through all that I could find of the USGenWeb cemetery records for those counties in OK looking for various surnames. What I'm really stuck on is her connection to Christian County MO. I have an Oklahoma birth certificate for my grandfather on which Sovilly lists her birthplace as Boaz and she related this to my father and aunt in their youth. I'm heading to the Ozarks at the end of May to search for records, homesteads and maybe find burial sites (for my Holeman, White and Welch lines too), but I'd like to do my homework before I head out. Surnames: Tennis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZMB.2ACI/1872.6 Message Board Post: Don't have a whole lot but feel my grandfathers obituary is an example of the quality of early families in Christian County 13 W. Walter Tennis was born 53 years, 8 months and 28 days ago from the date of September 3, 1930, the day of his death, which occurred at his home five miles southeast of Ozark, after a serious illness of several months. He had been in failing health for several years but did not become seriously ill until about July 4th. He was the son of William and Angeline Tennis and lived his entire life in the vicinity in which he was born. He was married to Cora Leota Porter on December 5, 1904. To this union two sons were born, Ralph E. and Langdon, who with their mother survive the departed. He is also survived by brothers, John R. and Homer of Ozark, and one sister, Mary Baird of Rogersville. Mr. Tennis was a member of the Selmore Baptist church, having made his confession of faith many years ago and exemplifying his belief in his daily life. He was also a member of the local Masonic lodge and the Order of Eastern Star. The funeral services were held Friday, September 5, 193! 0, from the Selmore Baptist Church, with Rev. L. M. Hale of Springfield officiating, with burial in the Selmore cemetery, under the direction of B. C. Klepper, and with Masonic and Eastern Star services at the grave. W. Walter Tennis was a man of his word. He builded his life upon the principles of truthfulness, honesty and friendship. He assumed the responsibilities of a home and family with a true understanding and he lived his daily life and planned his future with his family in mind. He so exemplified his understandings of friendship, honesty and truthfulness that he left a heritage to his two sons which should be wonderful stars to which they might hitch their hopes and aspirations. Those who know him as a friend are loud in the acclaim of the refined principles of friendship found in ths man. Those who have had business dealings with him have no hesitancy in declaring that his word was as good as his bond, and those of his home, who lived with and knew him as he met the trials and tribulations of daily life bespeak an eulogy to his kindness and affection which must now be a heart balm in their hour of sadness and sorrow. It is wonderful for a man to live in peace and contentm! ent with his friends, and it is marvelous to live in love and affection with his family. These things W. Walter Tennis did in the full measure. And so now his life is closed, his body reposes in its earthly tabernacle, but he leaves to his family and his friends a heritage not begotten with gold but only made possible by living as he lived and dying as he died. He will be missed from his home, his church, his lodge and his neighborhood, but never will the day arrive when the influences of the life he lived fail to be felt, somewhere, somehow by someone. And that is the purpose of life and so the history of his living closes, approved by God and man. May his reward be as comprehensive as was his living. So I am sending it and hoping you get some good answers to your inquiry.
