FANTASTIC Mabel! From this I discovered that my great-great-grandmother Charity Langley Woods also went by the name Charlotte. That may help me down the road. Great work and again thanks for all the hard work. Larry, Prospect Church is still alive and well and functioning. It is located on Old Prospect Road. Going from Ozark take highway 14 towards Sparta. Turn right on Highway "W", "W" to Old Prospect Road. It is about 5 miles southeast of Ozark. Hope all is well - have not talked with you in a while. Paula Stidham
Thanks everyone for the information about Prospect Baptest Church. I just found on the transcribed page for this church that my great-grandfather and mother Green Berry Holland and Lucy Holland were members of the church and was just curious as to where it was located. This is where the file on church locations is in the transcribed records website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~moccl/Places/ccmchurch. Prospect Baptist Church is on Old Prospect Road off Hwy W south of Highway 14 between Ozark and Sparta. It's about 3 to 4 miles from Ozark. Larrry, It sits right in front of Prospect Cemetery. There are driving directions to the cemetery (and therefor the church) on the Prospect Cemetery page. Elizabeth Cooper Keltner was the daughter of John Edward Keltner and Edith Ball Keltner. She was the sister of my G-grandfather,Henry Harrison Keltner. Emma Keltner Owens. I've got more if you need it. Dayton,Nv.
Although I am not either of the people you addressed, I hope you don't mind my asking.... Was the Phillip BALL you mention, the same one who had children, Andrew Jackson, Edith and Rebecca? Since I had a KELTNER/BLEDSOE connection in my Christian County family, I am trying to get everyone clear in my records. Nancy Angeline "Babe" KELTNER, wife of Hale Franklin BLEDSOE, had a sister named Elizabeth Cooper KELTNER, born 1846. Wondering whether the two Elizabeths might be one and the same. Thanks! The Phillip Ball I mentioned was the grandson of the Phillip Ball you are talking about. The older Phillip had Edith, Rebecca, and Jackson (Does anyone know where that Andrew Jackson name came from-I can't find anything that refers to Andrew?). Jackson was the father of Phillip. As to Elizabeth Cooper Keltner, I have never heard of her but am sure she's related. Jackson's wife was Elizabeth Keltner (daughter of Elizabeth Cooper and George Keltner). She was born Feb 20, 1825 and died Sept 16, 1907. I can send you a report on my Balls if you want. Cassie

Hi Imogene and Scotty- What I have is a photograph from my grandmother, Lily Ball. She is the mystery person who was raised by her grandfather, Capt. Jackson Ball and who appears on the census as Lellia. The photograph is of Jackson's and Elizabeth's (Keltner) house in Ozark and the caption states, "Cousin Annie Moore and her children, Leslie, Lena, Mabel." Annie was the 1st cousin to Lily and the caption is in Lily's writing. It appears on Larry Boyd's addition to the Christian county Website. I don't know anything else-I met my grandmother once. My first cousin who knew her well said she was in sound mind, etc.....I don't know who the people are. There was a Lena Moore who married Robert Little. And the "Family of Ball" has more mysteries. Scotty-glad to hear from you. I think I told you that Phillip's other great grand daughter from his other family was here visiting. I got all the scuttlebutt. And does anyone know who Nancy Garrison was-married Phillip Ball in 1866 and died soon after? Cassie

In the Arthor Paul Moser's book, he talks about the town of Abadyl and mentions about the post office--Keltner Post Office. He writes: "The route now starts at Cross Roads, in Douglas County, via Keltner to Oldfield. It was 3 1/2 miles north of Elkhead. The site is north of Bruner, keep to right and it consists of an old store and abandoned school house." I am looking to find out if that is still the location of the post office and if the old store and abandoned school house is still standing there today, (2003). Thanks, Michelle
Cassie wrote >>Does anyone know if the Lena Little who died Jan 1990 at the age of 85 ... is Lena Moore, daughter of Annie Cowan and James Moore? I think it is.<< Cassie, according to the memoirs of Nannie (Moore) Coward written for her granddaughter in March 1966, Annie (Cowan) & James MOORE had only two boys. Nannie was a sister of James, so I would think that should be accurate. If you have a census record or any document to prove otherwise, I would appreciate it so I can correct my records. Is Keltner a well known name in Christian County? Some of my Wests married Keltners in the 1890s. My gg-grandmother was Missouri Tennessee West (from Nixa) and her sister Minnie married J.C. Keltner and their brother William Luther West married Macy Keltner. Since they are not my direct line I have not researched them, but I would assume that J.C. and Macy are from the same Keltner family.
