http://www.corrections.state.mo.us/ Missouri Dept of Corrections. Somewhere in there, they have info on inmates who were executed, since 1925 I believe? I found this web site by searching for "missouri state prison records" http://www.prisonrecordsusa.com/state/pr_missouri.html --- [email protected] wrote: > Not long ago someone sent an address, where Mo.State > Prison info could be > requested on-line.Would you mind putting it up > again? > Thank you so much. > Emma Owens > > > ==== MOCHRIST Mailing List ==== > Remember, you can search the Christian Co list back > to 1998 at: > http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl > Enter MOCHRIST in the search field. > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion > online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hi A large source of leads to family-history data is now on line. It is comprised of the Tables of Contents of the first 22 volumes of the Missouri State Genealogical Association Journal, 1981-2002+. Importantly, below the Tables of Contents, is an index. Reviewers find the whole page easily navigated despite the great amount of data included. A few of the key words with which to search the index are county names, directions (east, south, north, west), and family surnames (for Bible records). Use your browsers search function. When you find interesting leads on the web page, you will probably want to see actual copies of the Journal. Many libraries subscribe to the Journal. There is also information, below the index on the web page, on how to obtain copies of articles or issues. One can get an idea as to the length of an article in the Journal by noting the page numbers where it begins and where the following article begins. However, some articles are serialized over two to four issues. The URL is <http://www.rollanet.org/~bdoerr/contents.htm>http://www.rollanet.org/~bdoerr/contents.htm >

Did you ever notice how easy it is to get distracted reading old newspapers? I was trying to find something this morning which had happened in one of those too-frequent gaps between surviving issues of the Christian County Republican. Most interesting stories are too long to try to transcribe, but I thought some folks might enjoy just this list from a front page story of the February 18, 1909 Christian County Republican. This is a brief summary. James F. Adams and M. R. Logan sponsored an "Old Fiddler's" contest at the Ozark Mill in early February 1909. Judges were C. D. Webber, Z. A. Johnson and Frank Edwards. There were a number of categories for which prizes like a pair of shoes and a sack of flour were given. Overall winners were John Harpool, first prize of $25; H. W. Allred, second prize of $10 and Willie Davis winner of the third prize of $5. Other contestants were: Frank Rice, Phil Rice, John Walton, Alex Meadows, John Meadows, Sam Weatherman, J. T. Phillips, John Keltner, W. H. Sartin, W. J. Nokes, Wess Nokes, R. R. Hedgepeth, W. T. Horn, Will Cloud , W. V. Cooley, Tobe Galbreath, and H. R. Elkins..
My Christian County Brick Wall is when and where Moses Shipley WARD died. In the 1870 Census he was living in Flat Rock Twp. Stone County, MO. He is shown with his wife Mahala F. (PRYOR) and his father Squire WARD living with him. In 1874 his mother stated in a sworn statement to the Southern Claims Commission that her husband had gone up to Missouri from Washington Co. Arkansas to move his son to Springfield. She had not heard from her husband since 1871 when he was living in Christian County. She further stated that she only had four living children. Of the four named Moses was not one of them. I have not been able to find any clue as to what became of Moses or his wife, but neither of them are on the 1880 census. If his Mothers' testimony was correct then Moses died between 1871 and 1874 in either Stone, Christian or Greene Counties. Any information would be appreciated. Bonnie Sell
The following are my two highest brick walls in Christian Co. "Rinda" Brazil May 1845 Ark married Edward Mayabb. She died after 1900 where she is located on the census in Porter Twp without Edward. Edward enlisted in the Union forces in Webster Co., Mo but later they are found in Christian Co. On the 1900 census "Rinda" possibly Derinda says her parents are born in Ill. Researching the possibility she is Derinda Brasswell, daughter of Samuel Brasswell and Phoebe Tabor. Also would like to know when Edward and Rinda died and where they are buried. Nancy Morrisett ca 1825 Tenn married Jacob Pruitt. 1st located on 1850 census in Greene Co., Mo and later on in Christian Co. Nancy last located on 1900 census in Porter Twp without Jacob. I have Nancys death as 11-19-1901 which I believe was in Christian Co. but have been unable to find where she is buried. I believe the Richard Morrisett and his wife Elizabeth who also lived in Christian Co., is Nancys brother. Would appreciate any help on these two families. Thank you, Kaye Smith
Thank you Gloria for the information. I would also like to know who the father of Lakin and George W. Adamson was. I have found nothing so far to this question but the quest is still on. Joann
In 1886, my great grandfather, Hugh B. Phillips, married his third wife "Mrs." Malinda Mallett in Christian County, Missouri. They had daughters Beunavista "Beuny" born in 1887 and Geraldine "Gurley" born in 1889. In 1894, Hugh moved to Newton County, Arkansas where in 1895 he married for the fourth time. All I know about Malinda Mallett is the marriage record and the two daughters. I've never been able to learn her age; whether Mallett was indeed a previous married name or this was just another of those cases where the recorder wrote "Mrs." beside the name of many previous-unmarried brides; the names of any blood relative of Malinda Mallett except her daughters; when or when she died or even if the marriage ended in divorce. I don't find any possible candidate for her on the 1880 Federal census anywhere. However, if she was indeed married before , it may be that her name was not Mallett in 1880. Would appreciate any lead on the identity of Mrs. Malinda Mallett.
Steve Gay, If you receive this email, could you please email me back. You had sent me those old photo's of the school to use in my book. Please email me back at [email protected] Thanks, Michelle Fitzpatrick
Christina Adamson, and her sons Larkin and George Adamson are on the 1850 Edgar Co Ill. census in District Nineteen household 282-282, Larkin is 20 and George is 16. I would like to know the name of the father of Larkin and George Adamson. Larkin Adamson married Editha Gilley in Greene County MO on 6 Jun 1851. Larkin and Editha are buried in Mapes Cemetery along Bull Creek. He has a Military Marker says Greene Co MO, no dates. Editha "Ditha" Gilley is my great great grandmother.
