    1. [MOCHRIST] DYE Family -- Reta -- DYE/STEPHENS/REDMAN/GARRISON
    2. Dale Marr
    3. Is Reta Spickard still on this list? She replied to a message I'd posted to the DYE list which was gatewayed to this list about 1 1/2 years ago, but I didn't know about it until today. I'd like to contact her, but her e-mail address isn't good. I'm seeking information on the DYE family. John (b. 1823) and William M. DYE (b. 1820) were brothers from KY and moved to Linn Twp. in Taney Co. (later Christian) before 1850. John was my g-g-grandfather, and I have information on John and William's families, but I'm trying to find their parents or other siblings. I've heard they had a brother who may have gone to Arkansas. John also ended up in Arkansas in the 1860's, but we don't know where in AR. He was married three times. First wife's name unknown (initial "E"), second & third wives were sisters, Louisa and Martha REDMAN. John and E's son, George W. DYE (my g-grandfather), married Alabama STEPHENS in Christian Co. in May 1870. It appears George's sister, Catharine, married George R. GARRISON in Christian Co. that same year. Can't find anything on the STEPHENS family anywhere or the Dyes in the 1870 census other than William Dye's widow, Keziah, who was still in Linn Twp. Alabama STEPHENS was said to have been full-blood Choctaw Indian and born in TN in 1849. John and the REDMAN sisters had a total of five children: Bartholomew (1862-MO), Mary Frances (1863-AR), Eliza J. (1869-AR), Sarah E. (1871-AR), and Caladonia (1873-AR). Martha REDMAN was a widow in Lawrence Co., AR in 1880, so John died between 1872 and 1880, supposedly in AR. Haven't been able to find anything on any of these kids other than a probable marriage for Mary Frances to James H. HOLDER in Lawrence Co., AR in 1880. Any help would be appreciated. Will gladly share what I have on these families. Dale

    3. I know you had this message directed to someone else but since I live in Springfield I thought I would help you. Branson is about 30 miles south of Ozark. You can get there in about an hour on Highway 65 Mount Vernon is about 30 miles west of Springfield on I-44. Yes, you can get there and back in one day. Actually you can get there in about an hour from Springfield. If you are in Ozark, I would allow about an hour and half to two hours to get there. And yes, Springfield is a regional airport. You may have to fly through St. Louis to get here but yes you can get her by plane. I know American is one of the airlines out of here. I don't what others there are. One thing about flying into Springfield that most people avoid is that it is a little more expensive. You might check into the cost to fly into Springfield versus flying into St. Louis and then renting a car and compare which is cheaper. --- Jean Mayfield Cuevas <[email protected]> wrote: > Jerry, > > Just how far is Branson from Ozark? 3. Just wanted to let you all know that my mom, brother and I will be in the Branson area, etc. in mid June. We have some things to do in the Joplin area around the 21st so it may be the end of the month before we get on over to Branson. We also want to visit Mountain & Schell's Mill area of McDonald Co., where my Johnstons came up from Madison Co., AR, en-route to Joplin, etc. Anyway, for those of you in the area, I hope to get to meet at least some of you all. We won't be able to get there in time for Outlaw Day; as we are moving here. My dad died in October & we are going to be scattering his ashes in the Ozarks, etc. Are there any meetings planned, etc., during that time period? Looking forward to seeing many of you. I have not been in Branson since about 1968. I was 9 years old. I know I am in for a shock. I don't think I'll be able to stand on Sammy Lane's Lookout. Sigh ........... Later! Jerry Johnston P.S.: I'm bringing my laptop & hope to get a lot more work done!

    3. When you download and install Acrobat Reader, there are two portions of the install - the stand alone reader, and the browser add-in. It sounds like you are missing the browser add-in portion. Or perhaps you are using a non-standard browser that doesn't support the add-in. What is your browser and version? You can find this by clicking on Help/About from the browser menu. > -----Original Message----- > From: JA [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2003 8:48 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [MOCHRIST] PDF(acrobat Reader) > > > Hi Rob, > I've had Acrobat reader for years, but on Web sites, when > I click on a "result" of a search, if it needs PDF, I still > get a download of Acrobat Reader, a waste of time. 2. Cassie, We were in Ozark today and there is no apparent damage. It also missed Rogersville which is where we live. We could see funnel clouds but nothing touched down. We were very lucky. I understand Fremont Hills between Ozark and Nixa was not so lucky. Most of Stockton is gone as well as Piece City. Several of the area schools were out today. Stockton high school, as we understand, is totally gone. It was a nice school - attended many football games there in the past. Paula from Rogersville
