    2. Hi, I have been following your Stillings listings because it is so close to my Stallings line, the John Stallings that you mentioned being in business with Casebolt is my ggg-grandfather, John Edwards Stallings, he was born in Wilkes County, Georgia. You can find what little I have been able to put together on Rootsweb under the database meg-9 John Edwards was a trapper, trader and ran a keel boat up and down the White River, mainly in the Marion County Arkansas area. His son Thomas Benton Stallings became a captain and had a paddle boat which he piloted up and down the rivers after the Civil War. If you find any connection with the Stillings, please let me know and I would welcome any information regarding the Stallings.

    2. Hi Kerry On the question you entered?? Finally, I have a question.  A John Stallings appears in Greene County records in the 1830's.  He and Thomas Casebolt either had a store or were peddling goods in the upper Finley river valley.  I think but cannot document that John Stallings is a relative of Alfred Stillions Sr That sure would be something to really work on I have only Alfred M Stillings Sr b abt 1800 in the children list and am sure he had siblings Do you list any?? Thank you so much for the stories on some of the Stillings I have that book you mention I must check under the Lee family Can you please let me knowyour relation to the Stillings family I am related thru the Stillings line on my mother and The Stallings line down in GA and AL on my Dad Side from Texas So to my Dad's half sister who is my Aunt she also we have found out my cousin What a surprise when we found this and a small world. Would love to share info with you The old Stallings book which has some errors in it also that my Aunt also did a index book on it has Rhoda Jane and Rebecca Mooney Stillings in it Would love to share info it you would like Rena Nicks Colorado

    3. Neat thing about listservs eventually you get responses. Thank you Phyliss and Rena for your postings. Alfred and Sally Stillions apparently initially claimed land in southern Greene County, James River Valley, close to the Patterson Cemetery. However, by 1840 they as well as friends and neighbhors, John and Martha Patterson Casebolt had moved into the upper Finley River valley in what is now eastern Christian County, south of Rogersville, north of Sparta. Alfred Stillions Jr. had a farm in western Benton Township, T 27 n, R19W can't recall the section number. His log house was enlarged and sided and I think is still standing on the property. There also is a small family cemetery. Alfred Jr's second wife was Unissa Emeline Miller, daughter of Thomas Jesse and Unice Miller. The senior Millers are buried in the Casebolt family cemetery. And family members say that one of Alfred Stillions Jr.s children or grandchildren is also buried in the Casebolt cemetery. Alfred Jr.s children stayed in eastern Christian County during the first half of the 20th century. There is information about the Stillings family in Henry Lee's bio, published in Goodspeed's Reminiscent History of the Ozark Region and available on the Christian County genealogical website. Finally, I have a question. A John Stallings appears in Greene County records in the 1830's. He and Thomas Casebolt either had a store or were peddling goods in the upper Finley river valley. I think but cannot document that John Stallings is a relative of Alfred Stillions Sr. Can anyone shed any light on Alfred Stillions Sr.'s brothers and sisters or on his cousins? I have a more info gleaned from Census and other records, suspect that Rena's is more comprehensive. 3. Nearly all the Christian County Harps are part of the family that centered in Newton County, AR, with some overflow to Carroll and other surrounding counties. With Bohannon being such a common Newton County name, I'd suspect this is too, but I haven't checked.
