My great grandfather came from France in the early 1800's. He first showed up in 1860 census in Mo.. He was illiterate and his name is spelled several ways. DeShan, DeShon Desham DeShow etc. He next showed up in Cedar County in 1867. He and Mary Jane Rector got a marriage license. I found this on the Mormon LDS's genealogy, I never found out if they officially married. I never found her again. In 1870 he shows up married to Elizabeth Hunter. They have a son Wm jr born in 1868. By 1870 they were living in Franklin County Ar. Shortly after that, he rode off on a horse one day and was never seen or heard from again. I have found him several places. He remarried at least twice and died in 1896 in Caddo County Ok. I have never found where he was buried. My Grt grd mth waited 7 years and then married John Campbell of White oak Ar. My grand father was raised there in Franklin Co and had 11 children. He was a circuit preacher. My grandmother was Nancy Gree! n McMurry. All the family eventually migrated to ok where most of them stayed. I have never found anyone who actually knew Wm Sr but have land deeds, Civil war records, and marriages about Wm Sr. He died in 1896 in Caddo Co Ok married to a 19 year old Lilly Jennings. I don't know if this is any value to you but you are the first person I have ever heard of connected to Wm Sr. I hope this means something. What is weird is moving to Franklin Co Ar.
