Nettie was the daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Hicks) Hunt and she died in El Dorado Springs, Cedar County soon after the birth of her third daughter, Anna Lee (Dailey) in March 1906. Anna was placed with maternal relatives following Nettie's death while Leonard raised their other two daughters, Liddie May (Coolbaugh) and Dora (Cox).
