Historical Society "The first official record that we can find about the Lindley Prairie Church and Cemetery is recorded in Book A page 569 when it was received June 1, 1854, and recorded June 10, 1854, between Garrett Philpott for a tract of land to be deeded to James P. Jackson, Jess H. Mitchell and Robert Walker as trustees for the Methodist Episcopal Church South for the sum of five dollars and thirty cents to have and hold for the use and benefit of the Methodist Episcopal Church South as a place of religious worship, school and burying ground for the dead............" There is more but no mention of a Lindley. Kay
