I'm just a member of the society, but the city owns the building. The society meets tomorrow at 10:00 am at the Cedar County Health Department Complex meeting room in Stockton. I imagine a lot of us would be willing to donate a little money to go to the preservation of the old jail if someone would get a jail project fund started. It would be such a shame to have it torn down. Maybe contacting the state historical society for advice would be a good place to start. They put in new carpet upstairs and added new windows, and a new roof. I think the 3rd roof, I wonder was that too much weight?? Now, they just want to tear it down.
