    1. Re: [MOCEDAR] MOCEDAR Digest, Vol 1, Issue 9
    2. Is there anything those of us who "live out of area" can do? We visited before the tornado and I took many pictures - my gggrandfather, Thomas P. Moore (1843-1916), spent a short time occupying one of the cells in early 1890s. Luckily he was acquitted from his accused crime but it made the story especially real to me to actually see the jail. I even took photo's of some of the artifacts in the museum and one of the cells. Please let us know if there's something we can do. 3. Members, please read. We need to remember to change the subject line when the subject changes. Those who receive the digest and those of us who receive the individual posts find it so much more helpful when we don't have to look at every message. Ex: If the subject line is " Jeremy Griffin lived in Canada in 1875", I know he is not mine, and can go to the next message Personally I receive 200+ e-mails a day, and it sure helps if I can read the subject line to see if I need to read the message. Okay, another thing that I need to explain. Anyone can post a message on the "Message Boards", however many, of those are not subscribed to this "Mail List". When you see the following preceding a message: ~~~~~~~~~ ""This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HMB.2ACE/1.1.2.1"" ~~~~~~~~~~~ To make sure the person who wrote the query gets your message in return, you need to "Post a Reply" on the message board. If you just reply through the mail list, and the person from the Query on the Message Board is not a subscriber, they will never see your answer to them. I hope I made that clearer than mud. If you have questions please ask. Contact me at anytime using: MOCEDAR-admin@rootsweb.com Thanks, Kay If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

His wife paid outlaws $50 to lead them to Texas. Some one told her that her gold would not be any good and that the should buy confederate money. They almost starved after they got to Texas. She settled in Grayson County near Bells. this is in north Texas near the Oklahoma border. Hope this helps you some.

Surnames: Brownlee Mays Carrico Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YMB.2ACI/287.669 Message Board Post: Charles William's parents were John S.A. Brownlee and Theresa Mays. This family can be found together in the 1850 census for Cedar County. John apparently died in the next few years, as his widow Theresa married Alex W. Johnson on 14 Nov 1853. She also apparently died in next few years, as in the 1860 census, the four Brownlee children are found living with stepfather Alex Johnson, but with no trace of their mother. James D. Brownlee, mentioned in one of the other replies to the original message, is Charles William's brother. Cedar county records include the marriage of "William C. Brownlee" to Margaret Carrico - apparently Charles William also went by William Charles.

Your grandmother was in the same class as my aunt, Hazel L. Bell, (deceased) at the country school. My father, Alva E. Bell was the oldest in the family. A Kokak copy from a machine would be wonderful to have....our family has none. I know my clippings from the Cedar County Republican (1995) that a display on WW. II was placed by the Independence Club for the Walnut Festival in a store front window----and contained letters were written by Eugene. It would be wonderful a relative would write funny and sad stories about their lives....what they did after high school.....civilian or military during WW II. I know these were tough times for families getting an education, and rearing children, etc. Regards
