The article stated he walked from TN in 1828 so as not to work slaves on his fathers plantation. He also purchased quite a bit of property in Cedar County starting in 1840. He died 21 Apr 1891 (There should be an obituary, but I can't find it) There are some inconsistent dates, ages, etc., but that could be immaterial. (2) I believe the Jacob Lindley married to Hester to be the Reverand, who, according to his Cedar County biography came to Missouri with his Uncle Jacob in 1831. According to the biography he died 17 Aug 1899, and there was an obituary written.. (3) The Jacob Lindley mentioned here could be the son of Jacob Marion Lindley, this would be his second marriage. Could anybody tell me if these three Jacob Lindleys are related, and how? What happened to the third Jacob? Any clues would be appreciated. Pat Sanchez

Kennedy, of Washington township, was a pleasant caller at this office on Monday. He came to Cedar county over along Bear creek with his mother in 1835. He said all this country belonged to Polk county and afterward was made a part of Dade. He paid taxes in all three counties and did not move. He attended the first court ever held in Greenfield, he also attended the session of the first grand jury of Cedar county, which was held on a log, about 3 miles south of this place. He says there were but three families to the neighborhood for a long time after he came. He remembers a few of the old settlers as they came in. 3. Posted on: Cedar Co., Mo Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Cedar/788 Surname: Blake ------------------------- Do you have any idea what part of Tennessee Mary Blake was born in? I have not traced the family back any farther than Peter E. and do not know what county he was born in. From your comments I assume that Mary married and stayed in the general area where she was born which was pretty typical during those years. The people from this "Western Frontier" region must have been an interesting and unique breed. They have been described as very self-sufficient and felt so omnicompetent and independent that they could openly speak their own minds and live with the consequences. They relied on a hand shake, their good name, and their honor to carry them through life. It would sure be interesting to spend an afternoon talking with one of them today. It is also interesting to note that North Carolina used these lands to reward that States Revolutionary War Veterans so maybe....

Cazy (Casey) in Cooper Co. MO in 1860. She was Nancy A. Snodgrass who was first wife of A. Casey. I know that Nancy's family was from Cedar Co., Stockton. Also, Reuben and Nancy are found on the 1870 Cedar Co. census. Reuben and Nancy had three boys, George Emory, James Thomas and Joseph Walter. Some of George's family went to Kansas. James Thomas and his famliy (if any) can not be located. Joseph Walter is my great grandfather. I know that Reuben had a sister named Elizabeth A. Ross who married Irvin Powell in Cooper Co. MO Reuben and Nancy wind up back in Cooper Co. on the 1880 census. They also raised thier niece, Mary Powell, from age 3 after the death of her parents. WHO ARE REUBEN AND ELIZABETH ROSS' PARENTS?? Did Reuben go by his middle name? which begins with a J. and is that why I can't find him? Reuben was b.abt. 1842, census records say MO. Census say his father was from TN and mother from AL. WHERE DID JAMES THOMAS ROSS GO?? Can't find Reuben's death date or burial place. Family story says that he died on his way to moving......someplace. Family story says he is buried in Henry Co.
