Thanks James! I so much appreciate your reply to my question.....This confirms what was passed on to me about my great great uncle John E. I really hope to find some church records there.....hopefully they didn't burn in a fire or get lost! We have always been looking for the marriage of James Monroe Cash aka "Monroe" b. 1825-6 TN and wife Sarah Emiline Ford aka "Emiline" b. 1825-6 TN. Monroe was in Roane Co. TN in1848 and then shows up in Cedar Co. MO 1850 with the Ford and Rowden families from the same area of TN. Maybe my Monroe and Sarah were married there! Again...so many thanks to you for your help. God Bless, Chris
Hello to the list, Does anyone know if there is a town of Concord in Cedar Co. MO? I have had info passed on to me that my great great uncle John E. CASH b. 1850 Cedar Co. MO(listed on 1850 Cedar Co. MO census w/ father/mother in Lynn twnsp.) was born near Concord. They were all from East TN...from Roane/Meigs Co. and had come to Cedar w/ the FORD and ROWDEN family.I can't find a Concord on my map in either TN or MO...so I am wondering if the Concord connection is a red herring. Thanks for any help. Sincerely, Christopher D. Cash
Concord was the name of a rural community about 6 mile south of Stockton on 39 Highway. There used to be a church and rural schoolhouse there but nothing is left to speak of. At one time it probably (I don't know for sure but a lot of small communities did have) had a blacksmith shop, post office and maybe other necessities. Hi, this is a long shot but my ex sister inlaw was a Cardwell from TN. She isn't online, so if you want to contact her, let me know and I'll give you her address. I remember something about Kings Mountain and a battle that was fought there. Cardwell isn't as common as Caldwell, so you might just have something in common. barb "Marjorie Fowler Running (by way of -kgs- )" wrote: > Posted on: Cedar Co., Mo Query Forum > > ****NOT a subscriber to this list, if you want to reply------->> > Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Cedar/858 > > Surname: Cardwell > ------------------------- > > Looking for any information about Jane Cardwell born in Tennessee approx. > 1869 moved to Cedar County around 1875. Hello to the list, I am new to the list and just wanted to post my interests. I am researching the family of James Monroe CASH aka "Monroe" b. 1826 East TN and Sarah Emiline FORD b. 1826 East TN. They were from Meigs Co. TN and show up on the 1850 Cedar Co. MO(Lynn Twnsp.) with son John E. and Stephen FORD, also from Meigs. According to oral history, Monroe and Sarah's son John E. Cash was born in Concord, Cedar Co.....was this town near Lynn Twnsp...thought Lynn Twnsp. was near Stockton? By 1854 the Cash's moved to Miller Co. MO but the Ford's stayed on there. I would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about these areas and/or families. Thank you very much, Chris Cash.

This was posted to another list but, I thought it might be something of interest to the list members. kay ~~~~~~ "A notice was recently printed in the Independent-Journal newspaper in Potosi, Mo. which reads: (MO.) STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO CHARGE RESEARCH FEE Due to escalating research requests and limited staff time, the State Historical society will establish a fee and time limit for research requests received via letter, fax, or e-mail from out-of-state non-members. Effective January 1, 2001, the Society will limit research assistance for these patrons to a maximum of one hour and charge $15.00 for that service. Residence will be determined by the return address. Members of the Society and residents of Missouri will not be charged a research fee. All patrons, however, who wish research assistance that will take longer than one hour to complete will be sent a list of private researchers. All patrons will be limited to three specific requests per communication and four communications per year. Requests for newspaper searches must include name of person and event, date of event, and location of event. Letters, faxes, and e-mail messages are answered in the order in which they are received. All communications must include the patron's name and postal address."
I'm guessing that my missing "Prudence Chrisman" may be Chism instead. She was stated as the mother of Martha Moore, who married Daniel E. Davis, when I obtained Martha's death certificate. This Prudence supposedly married John Moore, both born TN, Martha born in IL. A granddaughter filled in the death certificate and she might not have known the true information. Martha lived in Cedar County much of her life and died in 1911. Margie Bridges
Not that I know of. Did she live in Cedar Co? If so perhaps there is a connection.
Do you have a Prudence Chism? thanks, Margie Bridges
Margie, I don't have Prudence Chism in my tree. What relation to Martha would she be? My grandfather William Chism was born in TN and came to Cedar Co. MO as a young man. I have been told there is some connection to a "Marshall" family. He named his youngest son, my father, Marshall. I believe the story was he came by covered wagon to Cedar Co with the Marshall family. Did your Marshall's come from Tennessee. [email protected]
Louise, Ben Marshall and family came from Henry County, Virginia. They may have traveled through Tennessee, but I don't know the route they took. Ben's sister was married to my ggg grandfather and she and her family came via Christian County, Kentucky, where they spent several months laying over. Posted on: Cedar Co., Mo Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Cedar/849 Surname: Marshall, Frieze, Connaway, Nance ------------------------- Would your Benjamin A. Marshall be the son of Dennis Marshall & Frances Harper Marshall? My ancestor Martha Harper Marshall Connaway was daughter of DM & FHM, and sister to Benjamin A(lfriend) Marshall, (1800-1883), born in Virginia, moved to Cedar Co., MO around 1850 with 14 of his 16 children, and whose wife's name was Nancy Nance from Virginia? I ask, because you asked about Elbert Frieze, and I have a list from my mother's uncle John Waldo Connaway on the Marshall line. In that list, is the name Sallie Frieze, b 1830, 8 children, directly under the name Eliza (Lee?) Marshall (b Apr 17, 1846), who was a daughter of Benjamin. I have other information from a manuscript of Abner Dennis Stultz which includes a Sarah L. Marshall (b Nov 5, 1830) as a daughter of Benjamin. Sallie couldn't have been Sarah's daughter, but was she, perhaps, Elbert's mother, or is "Sallie" a nickname for Sarah? Henry
