    1. Re: [MOCEDAR] Fwd: {not a subscriber} Snow family
    2. Hi Kay, I have a Snow family which was prominent in Roane Co. TN ca. 1830(Richard b. 1800-10, Dudley b. 1800-10, William b. 1800-10, Elizabeth b. 1770-80, Joh??? Snow b. 1770-80). The Cash, Rowden, Hughs and possibly the Duncan family from Roane/Meigs Co. of East TN went to Cedar Co. MO ca. 1850...so maybe these Snows might be the ones who went to Cedar. My Cash's married into the Snow's in North Central TX ca. 1890's(Oscar and Claude Snow). Maybe some link.....worth looking into. Let me know if any of this might tie in. Take Care and God Bless, Chris

    2. Is anyone researching this family? My great grandfather, William Martin Hobbs is Francis' son from her first marriage to Joseph Hobbs. I'm very interested in any information about Francis, including her second family with John Hudson. Copies of photos of Francis would be fantastic, as no one in the Hobbs side of the family has any.

    1. Re: [MOCEDAR] Early Marriage Records in Cedar Co. MO
    2. Hi Janet, Thank you so very much for your response..I so much appreciate the information. Well, the records there at the court house gives me a bit of hope...maybe my gggrandparents were missed somehow. I know I've talked to a few people and they say my James Monroe Cash aka "Monroe" b. 1825 TN and Sarah Emiline Ford b. 1825-6 TN are not listed as being in the marriage books. Monroe last appears on the tax lists of Roane Co. TN 1848 and then shows up with other Meigs Co. TN families in Lynn Twnsp., Cedar Co. MO for the 1850 Census. The census was taken in September and their child John E. Cash is shown as being 4 months old. Biographical records from Pushmataha Co. OK show John E. Cash being born near Concord, Cedar Co. MO 1850...and all the census say MO. I wish I was close enough to visit and look for a marriage record.....I recently moved to the North East...to Central PA so I probably won't be getting out there anytime soon. I think visiting the court house would be the only way to really find what I am looking for....if they are even on the books. Maybe someday I'll catch a break on this one. Could also be they were married by a circuit preacher along the way from TN to MO...so many possibilities. Well, just wanted to thank you so much again for your kindness. God Bless and take Care, Chris

    2. I know some people walked out with them under their coats. Doesn't the thought of that make you ill?? Those books will probably never be seen again. It is sad. This was 35 years ago in IL that I know that it happened but I don't know the persons name anymore. I used to and was horrified when she told me. But, was not into genealogy back then so didn't know what to do. I guess I just marked it down to how can some people be so horrible:( Now, I realize that some of my family records were probably in those books:( Juanita Jones Johnson

    1. Re: [MOCEDAR] Early Marriage Records in Cedar Co. MO
    2. Hello, I can not remember if Cedar County had this or not. But some of the counties that we have gone to had marriage books that overlap in time periods. In that case sometimes, records do get missed on indexes. Unless you are looking yourself you don't know if they have checked both books. In regards to the Court House, my mother and I have made 2 trips to Cedar County. They ladies there are very nice in that they just let you do your own looking. They were not helpful in finding things. We seemed to have only access to very old court books. Where is the index to the files they have? The first time I was there I saw a name in a book, later I realized it was my ancestor. The second time we went was specifically to find that record. I could not even find a reference to that record. Could not find the book that I had seen her name in. Janet Arnold

    2. Hi Mrs. Miller, Thank you very much for that suggestion and the reply back. At this point, anything is possible. With this early of a time frame(1848-50), I have been leaning towards them having being married en route from Roane/Meigs Co. of East TN to Cedar Co. MO...perhaps by a traveling preacher. I guess they could still have been married in Cedar Co. and were missed...not sure. Their first child was born near Concord, Lynn Twsp., Cedar Co. MO in Jan. 1850. Have to keep diggin' to see if I can find anything there records wise. Again...many thanks for the suggestion and God Bless, Chris.
