Their censuses, marriages, cemetery records are good. Just because I've been searching...do you have any documentation on a marriage between Joseph Hembree and and a Sarah Elizabeth Melton in South Carolina. Joseph is the lifelong Roane County, Tennesseean your Joel comes from and I have transcribed Joseph's original will.

I have a marriage certificate from 1874 in Cedar County and I am trying to make out some names. Maybe someone knows the spelling of these better than I can interpret: Walter A. Church or Clark, J.P.; witnesses Gay or Gay Kitsanden? and John or Jake McCall/McColl. recorder J. R. Gowen/Omer/Owen?; by Lewis Geneveley/Jenevely, deputy. At least I can read the bride and groom, Lucinda O'Connor and Thomas C. Davis. Thanks for any help. Margie Bridges

Sure would appreciate some help and I will share info..Lee
I am thinking of driving to Cedar County during my 2 week trip to Texas this month and was wondering about area hotel/motel availability. Also, I am curious to know what to expect at the courthouse, specifically probate records. I have seen Cedar county microfilm from LDS and made copies of documents for my ancestor, but they were found on different reels. I'm wondering if I missed something. Should I expect one file with all documents pertaining to him in that file, or will they be scattered throughout the probate books, which I will have to look through. The time period I am searching is about 1850 - 1900. I would also like to find death information on an ancestor who died in Kansas in 1917, but was brought to Cedar county for burial. I'm aware that death certificates are filed in Jefferson City, but could I expect to find anything at the county level? I don't know what kinds of records were filed if a person didn't die in Missouri, but was just buried there. I read that what recorded birth records that there are for the 1800s are recorded in the regular deed books of the county and they are not indexed. Is this correct? Am I assuming correctly that there is a genealogical area of a library in El Dorado Springs that would be worth searching? I also want to check the cemeteries for my ancestors. Several I know are buried in Clintonville Cemetery and others I know are buried there, but I don't know where. Thanks for any tips and suggestions, Shirley
