Also Webster was Crawford. Crawford was so big that people thought in the census that people were moving but they were in the same place, they just made new counties. 3. >Can anyone tell me what Cedar County was known as before 1845? My "Handy Book" says Cedar County was formed from the Southern part of St. Clair County and the Northern part of Dade Co. Seems that I've heard rumors that present day Cedar may include a bit of Polk County on the east. 3. I found this: In 1812, a portion of the Territory of Louisiana became the Territory of Missouri (June 4) The first general assembly of the Territory of Missouri met (Oct. 1); the five original counties were organized: Cape Girardeau, New Madrid, St. Charles, St. Louis, and Ste. Genevieve. Between then and 1835, I don't know, there were a lot of counties created evidently! 1. [MOCEDAR] James Cook
    2. Hello: Looking for information on the siblings of James Cook who married Mariza Miller in Cedar County in 1853. James is the son of William Clinton Cook, a minister, who died in Cedar County in 1864. I believe James had brothers, William, Thomas and Andrew. I do know he had sisters, Elizabeth and Jane, but I know nothing about them. William, Thomas and Andrew all died in Cedar County as evidenced by their probate estates. Elizabeth, James and Jane all settled in California. Is anyone researching this family? Deborah Pirie

    1. [MOCEDAR] James Miller d. 1854
    2. Hello: Looking for information on James Miller who died in 1854 in Cedar County. His will names wife, Mary, and children, William, Uriah, Clement, Mariza, Lorida, Nancy and James. I don't know if wife Mary is the mother of his children. An unofficial family genealogy states that Elizabeth Clay was the mother of his children. A James Miller married an Elizabeth Clay in 1824 in Clay Co., MO. Who is the James Miller who married Mary Cook on 14 November 1847 in Cedar County? Is it this James? Uriah married Nancy Hooten in 1851; Clement married Elizabeth Church in 1857, and Mariza married James Cook in 1853 all in Cedar County. James Miller is listed as an early settler of Cedar County on the Cedar County Genweb page along with Jacob Miller. Is anyone else researching this family? Deborah Pirie

    2. Hi, I am looking for information on the Alexander Cunningham family of Cedar Co Mo. He moved to Cedar Co in about 1860-1870. He is supposedly buried in the Love Cemetery. His sister, Ann Eliza Cunningham Stanley and husband John Stanley lived in near by Vernon Co in 1890. Any information to these families will be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know if the Love Cemetery still exists or has it been renamed? Thank You, Sandi Simpson [email protected]

    3. There was a family of Carrico's who lived in southern Cedar Co--Jerico Spgs. One of the stories has it that Jerico was a mispronunciation of Carrico. I believe there are some Carrico's buried at the Jerico Spgs. Cemetery. The name of the cemetery is Anna Edna.
