Could someone please see if they can find a John B Allens divorce, death or cemetery location in Cedar Co? His wife Rachel M Mead remarried in 1904 to James A Griffin. Maybe they divorced. I have no information on him except that he married Rachel in August 27, 1871 in Polk County. So, any information found would be appreciated. Carmen
Posted on: Cedar Co., Mo Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Cedar/10941 Surname: JONES, KILGORE ------------------------- I checked the records that I have and did not find a Mary D. Jones Kilgore who died in 1881 buried in Cedar Co. She could be buried without a headstone.
I have been searching for some papers this afternoon. Shows what a good filing system I have. I will report about them another day. I do not know where Letitia was born. I really do not have any other information about her. I am hoping Betsy will find a treasure chest in her Aunt's things. Maybe she has the needed proof of Letitia's family. I have two lists of children, one from a descendant of Campbell and another from a descendant of Jane. With Betsy's list, I find the common names on all three lists are Ann, Malinda b 1817, Jane, and James b 1823. The List from Campbell's descendant are as follows: Ann, Jane, Matilda, Polly, Sarah, Campbell b 1815 TN d 1881, Melinda, Martha Jane b 1820 (gravemarker says 1815), James and the 3 children of Mahala and Thomas, Hetty Thomas b abt 1848, Thomas H. b abt 1850 and George W. born 1853 d 1916. The List from Jane's descendant are as follows: Jane b 1809, Ann b. 1811, Campbell b 1815, Melinda, Mary b 1824, Hutchen B. James H, and Mariah. According to the 1850 Census for Cedar County, Mariah was the name of the wife of James H. I have attempted to put these children on the 1830 Census for Ray County. This is using the list from the Campbell Descendant. Thomas English head of household: 1 m 5-10 (James H.) 1 m 15-20 (Campbell) 1 m 20-30 (____) 1 m 30-40 (Thomas) 1 f younger than 5 (_______) 3 f 10-15 (Martha J, Jane, Polly) 1 f 10-15 (Malinda) 1 f 15-20 (Matilda) 1 f 30-40 (Letitia) Robert Graham is listed with 1 m 20-30 and 1 f 15-20 (Ann) John Wells is listed with 2 m younger than 5 1 m 5-10, 1 m 20-30 (John) 1 f younger than 5 1 f 20-30 (Sarah) All for now, Pat
My family records show that Letitia Campbell was born abt. 1785 in TN. I don't show a burial place as of yet. I finally got all my information on the computer and am starting to go through all the family history and papers from my aunts house. If I find any other information, I will pass it on. The children I have listed as children of Thomas & Letita are as follows: Ann Malinda Sara Ann (Sally) Jane Joseph James Thomas Betsy Rochester, MI ----- Original Message ----- From: "paul murray" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 03, 2001 6:03 PM Subject: [MOCEDAR] Ann English > Ann stayed in Cedar County, Mo as far as I know. The 1889 History of sever Missouri conties in this area list names of Inglishes with only letters for the first names. It makes it difficult to tell really who is who. Betsy, Martha Jane is one of the unnamed daughters of Thomas and Letitia English. I think the only other family group that names her as a daughter is the family of Campbell English. I have not found her on any of the other family groups that I have seen. I have a copy of the transcript of a letter from my grandfather, Thomas Henry LeFors, the son of Martha Jane English and John S. LeFors. The letter was written in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, TX in Dec. 1870. The letter states that he is visiting with Grandmother Inglish [Mahala English, who moved to Texas with some of her children after Thomas' death in Claiborne Parish, LA.] It also tells that he has seen Uncle Cam, who lives about 20 miles away [Campbell, son of Thomas and Letitia English settled in Mt. Vernon, Franklin County, TX.] All of my grandfather's children name Thomas and Letitia as their grandparents, there is also a reference to Mahala and the half brothers and sister. I feel very secure that Martha Jane was in fact a daughter of Thomas and Letitia. Karen, a question about Ann Inglish Graham. We find an Ann Inglish in Titus or Red River County, selling land to Campbell English. In another place she is listed as Ann English Young. Is this your Ann Graham? Did she go on to TX after Robert died? It is strange that she would resume using English as her name. Pat

Pat, When you listed Martha Jane English & John S. Lefors. How are they related to Letitia Campbell & Thomas English? Betsy
I owe this list an apology. I took someone's word that Letitia Campbell's parents were John P. and Malinda Campbell. I reread everything in my English/Inglish folder and everything in my Martha Jane English and John S. LeFors folder today. I did not find anything to lead to any proof of Letitia's parents. I have some information for Martha Jane and John S. that I will be happy to share. I also have some information for Campbell English. I would love to find the children of the other English families. Does anyone know where Letitia is buried? Do you have an exact date of her death? can any of you put names to the children listed on the Ray Co. 1830 Census? I have some, but not all. Does anyone have the Census for 1820, 1840? Martha jane's date on her grave marker in Poolville, Parker County TX has her born in 1815, but Census Records for 1850 and 1860 show her to be born in 1820 MO. Maybe we can work together to find Letitia's parents, whether they be of the Campbellite Religion, which I think (?) had its roots in KY or the John and Malinda that has been mentioned. One source said they thought he was from Maine. Looking forward to hearing from my English Cousins. Pat

Bobbie & Pat: Regarding the Campbell family. I am a descend to Lelitia Campbell & Thomas English. Any information would be appreciated on Letitia's parents (John & Malinda)?. I didn't have any information beyond Letitia. My line is with Thomas & Letitia, daughter Malinda who married Johnny Crisp. I'm still in the process of recording my information. I have papers from my aunt that passed away last September to go through. I will be happy to share. One note that I have is: Letitia's ancestor - Alexander Campbell was founder of the Disciples of Christ Church or Christian Church. I need help finding information on various schools, which were located in Polk County Missouri. Does anyone know where Prairie School was located? I have a school class picture, which says on the back it was Feb. of 1913? I have been told that there use to be a Prairie school at Highway 13 and T around Bolivar, Mo. Does anyone know what school had a Mrs. Suns school class? The people listed on the back are Helen Mays, Mildred Bush Coon, Clesa Cook, Dorothy Hutchen, Mary Camp, Bony Johnson, Mamie Hood, and Pauline Sparks. (Spellings are as the back indicated) Since there are 9 people, I assume Mrs. Sun is one of the people shown. There is no date. I also have a picture of a class from Highpoint School in Jan. 25, 1917. Does anyone know where that school might have been located? I would also like to find out what school the children of Wishart Mo attended during the early to mid 1900s. If would also like to discuss the Cliquot community with someone. I dont think it was ever a town but I know we had some relatives in what was known as the Cliquot area. Does anyone have any information or class pictures on the North Ward School in Bolivar in the early to mid 1900s? I am hoping someone will recognize the names of the people or of the schools. My family is primarily found in Polk and Cedar counties. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Carmen Crain Willis Cedar & Polk County Surnames: Akard, Allen, Alsbury, Ashlock, Bean, Copeland, Crain/Crane, Drake, Marshall, Mead, Rotrock/Roderick, Wilson, Wynes
Bobbie, I would be interested to know if you had Campbells in the area much earlier than 1900. I am looking for information on John and Malinda Campbell who were in Cedar County around 1830. They were the parents of Letitia Campbell who married Thomas English in TN and moved to Ray County then Cedar Co. MO. John is listed as one of the early pioneers of the county. Pat
I am a descendant of Thomas English and Letitia Campbell through their daughter Ann English. I have never been able to find her parents. Can you point me in the right direction? How did you find John and Malenda? Karen

After reseraching family roots for the last 30 years and reading all the patriotism in letters that I had of my great great grandfather in the civil war from Dade County, I don't see how any of us can every sit back and allow all that they have fought to keep free for us to be lost in vain by allowing any congressional representative deny any of our rights in the second amendment--the right to keep and bear arms. What would have happen to any of our Dade County ancestors either Confederate or Union if they had not had their guns to defend their families. Not to be political, but its our freedom and each and everyone of our ancestors regardless of which side they stood on was doing what they thought was right and I can see the good on both sides. Hats off to those who fought so hard to give us what we have today!! Let's do our part to help keep it that way!!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, May 28, 2001 3:12 AM Subject: Re: [MOCEDAR] Veterans, please sound off > In a message dated 5/27/01 10:35:18 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > [email protected] writes: > > << > List Members, for the next 24 hours I'm going to open up the list topic in > honor of our Veterans. >> > > Thanks so much, I will be glad to hear this. List Members, for the next 24 hours I'm going to open up the list topic in honor of our Veterans. Veterans, wives/widows of veterans, children or parents of veterans, lets hear from you, your thoughts on your/their service, please tell us the branch of service, war served in, and memories. A way of saying thank you for all you gave. Also, if anyone cares to write and would like your story added to the web site I would be honored to do that. Kay Griffin Snow
