Melinda Gumm, our recorder has done an excellent job in microfilming several records. They have a microfilm reader at the courthouse. Several people who have looked up marriage records there have been very pleased with the service. You might want to see if someone will do a lookup. They could also check land records. Your best bet would be ordering microfilm # 0932390 from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. It covers 1845 - 1883, Vol. A - C, for Cedar County, MO.

The next census was in 1880. We have it on microfilm at El Dorado Springs. It will be several days before I can take a look at it. Charles LaKeene Howard and Ida Ollie Murphy married in Cedar Co. on March 30, 1888. They are my grandmother and grandfather. Does anyone have any information on them.

In the book "A Directory of Towns, Villages, and Hamlets Past and Present of Cedar County, Missouri", compiled by Arthur Paul Moser, it states that: "Cedar County was created February 14, 1845, from portions of Dade and St. Clair Counties, and was named for Cedar Creek, one of its principal water courses. The first county court was held April 7th, following, at Crow's Mill, near the mouth of Bear Creek. Thomas Jones, James L. I also knew Bill Clark and I have been fishing with Herb Bryson. Some where I have pictures of Herb taken on a float trip down the Sac River sometime in the early 50's.
