    3. Hi....I have a brick wall in Missouri....If there is anyone researching Missouri that could steer me in the right direction to finding my ancestors, I would greatly appreciate it. Thomas Jackson was listed on the 1860 federal census living in Cass County, Missouri. I have been searching, but have not had any luck finding most of the family. I think that something happened to them when the civil war broke out....either physically, or they just scattered to the four winds. I found two (John Jackson and William Perry Jackson) on the 1870 census in Johnson County, Kansas, but have been unable to find the others. Is there a research route, i.e...newspapers, etc, that is available on the internet that I could research? 1. THOMAS1 JACKSON was born 1803 in Maryland. He married ELIZABETH ELMORE March 10, 1831 in Vermilion County, Illinois. Children of THOMAS JACKSON and ELIZABETH ELMORE are: MALINDA JACKSON, b. 1832, Vermilion County, Illinois; d. Cass County,Missouri; m. JACKSON RIDDLE, June 01, 1851, Cass County, Missouri. (Jackson Riddle remarried in 1859, so Malinda may have died.) ANDREW JACKSON, b. 1833, Vermilion County, Illinois; . HENRY JACKSON, b. 1835, Vermilion County, Illinois. JOHN JACKSON, b. 1836, Vermilion County, Illinois. ROBERT JACKSON, b. 1838, Vermilion County, Illinois. MILTON JACKSON, b. January 28, 1839, Vermilion County, Illinois; d. December 26, 1882, Cass County, Missouri. THOMAS JACKSON, b. 1840, Vermilion County, Illinois. MARGARET JACKSON, b. 1842, Vermilion County, Illinois. MALICHI JACKSON, b. 1845, Washington County, Arkansas ELIZABETH JACKSON, b. 1847, Vermilion County, Illinois. AARON JACKSON, b. 1849, Washington County, Arkansas. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ken Jackson

    3. I have found that after Chapter 11.. many of my family went back to where they came from to live with family members or went to live with other relatives..so sometimes going backwards give you some clues as to where they went chatty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken Jackson" <ken@score.com> To: <MOCASS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 06, 2002 12:08 PM Subject: [MOCASS] Thomas Jackson (Cass County, Missouri) > > > Hi....I have a brick wall in Missouri....If there is anyone researching > Missouri that could steer me in the right direction to finding my ancestors, > I would greatly appreciate it. 3. In my search experience, my gg grandfather moved his family from Kentucky to Cass Co., MO about the time the Civil War broke out and was in the 1860 Cass Co. Census. He moved back to Kentucky by 1870 and eventually on to Oklahoma. In another family, who was from Vermilion Co., IL, they moved up to South Dakota in the 1880s, then down to Missouri and over to Oklahoma by 1920. It may be that your Jackson family moved around quite a bit, just like so many other families during this period. I would check census indexes for states surrounding Missouri and westward. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
