    1. [MOCASS] Tedford and Owsley surnames in Cass County

    3. Hi! Is there anyone on this list who has done research on these two surnames? I have two questions: 1) James and Susan (nee HUBBARD) BURFORD adopted three children one of whom was Richard OWSLEY. They are supposed to have only adopted the children of relatives. I've accounted for the others but not Richard. Anyone recognize him? 2) On Edward HUBBARD'S obituary his sister is identified as Mrs. L.A. TEDFORD. My problem is that the only sister that I know he had living in Cass county was Mattie RYAN (nee HUBBARD) and she is buried with her husband Charles in BURFORD cemetery. My father knew her and says she never remarried after her husband's death. I would be interested in hearing from any TEDFORD researchers even if you can see no immediate connections as there is an old photograph of a Mattie TEDFORD with the notation that she was my father's g-g-aunt. It's possible that the obituary writer made a mistake which would not be unusual! Helen Bremmer http://community.webtv.net/hbremmer/AncestralTrailsanda

    3. It's difficult to help you without dates, but there was only one Tedford whose first name started with "L" in the 1870 census index for MO - a 36 yr. old Leroy Tedford in Sugar Creek Twp., Randolph Co., with a wife named Piety. She was still listed, without him, as Piety Tedford in the same county in 1910. No "L" Tedford is listed in MO in 1910. But why do you think the sister lived in MO? And wouldn't both the obit writer and the person who labeled the photo both have to be mistaken? Seems most unlikely... --- Helen Bremmer <hbremmer@webtv.net> wrote: > Hi! > Is there anyone on this list who has done > research on these two > surnames?
