I am at work now, so earlier was just going by what I have in my PDA. Where did the info come from that was sent to you? And where are you from? Saundra, The following is what has been sent to me. I am currently trying to verify with documentation. My William L. DID have a son, John East. Here is what was sent: 1. William L. LAFFOON.1 Born abt 1795 in North Carolina. Was on the census for Clairborne Co., Tennessee, in 1850.2 Was on the census for Cass Co., MO, in 1860.3 William L. died in Cass Co., MO, abt 1868; he was 73. Buried in Cass Co., MO. Occupation: Farmer. Residence: 1850, Claiorne Co., TN. Residence: 1860, Mount Pleasant, Cass Co., MO. On 4 Jan 1825 when William L. was 30, he first married Mary Nancy VENABLE, in Surry Co., NC. Born abt 1800 in Stokes, Co., North Carolina. Mary Nancy died in Clairborne Co., Tennessee, bef 1836; she was 36. They had the following children: 2 i. Drury [Drewry] (1826-) ii. Cecelia. Born abt 1827. 3 iii. John East (1830-) 4 iv. Ewel Venable (1833-1929) v. Sanford. Born abt 1835. Abt 1836 when William L. was 41, he second married Seleta [Seletta] HARPER2,3, daughter of John C. HARPER & Sara HURST, in Clairborne Co., Tennessee. Born on 26 May 1808 in Clairborne Co., Tennessee. They had the following children: i. Sarah Jane. Born on 21 Mar 1837. ii. Nancy M. Born abt 1840. iii. Lucinda B. Born on 16 Sep 1842. iv. Elizabeth. Born abt 1843. v. Mary Jane. Born on 7 Oct 1847. vi. Stephen D. Born on 25 Nov 1848. Hope this helps! Church met at Big Spring and after worship proceeded to business. 1st Opened a door for the reception of members and received William and Mary Laffoon by letter., on 2 Apr 1832.2 William L. was on membership roll of Primitive Baptist Church Big Spring Primitive Baptist Church, Clairborne Co., TN; Bro. William Laffoon appointed to cite Sister Viney Flemings to attend next meeting., on 2 Jul 1840.3 William L. was on membership roll of Primitive Baptist Church BiG SPRING PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH, Clairborne Co., TN. William and wife dismissed by letter. Buried in Dadeville Masonic Cemetery, Dade Co., MO; Row 11. Ewel Venable served in the Civil War in Company E, 6th MO Cavalry, possibly Greene Co., MO unit; Rank at Induction: Q.M. Sergeant; Rank at Discharge: Com Sergeant; Union. On 28 Jun 1871 when Ewel Venable was 37, he married Arrena E. SHORT15, daughter of Unknown SHORT & Rebecca UNKNOWN (Dec 1824-), in Dade Co., MO.
