The family remained in Arkansas only a short time and while Hiram was a small child they moved to Cass County and entered a tract of land a few miles south of Plesant Hill. Hiram grew to manhood on this farm. However, during the Civil War, while "Order No. 11" was in effect, the widowed mother took her family to Howard County, returning to the home in Cass County when all danger had passed. This Hiram married Mary Margaret Bouse. There is a little more about Hiram and Mary Margaret if you are interested. Susan N. Stice
I forgot to tell you that I would love to have a copy of the Cass County Book. I will try to contact the Historical Society there.
