These symbols are added with each forward. There are two ways that I know of to remove them. 1. Anytime you want to forward an e-mail forward it from the orginal e-mail (first in a series of forwards) and not the e-mail that has all of the "Fwd's:". (while you are at it delete the page and a half of previous addressees--it only takes a second). 2. Go to www.printcharger.com and download the "emailstripper" program (only a minute or two to do so and it is free). Save the program on your desktop. When you want to clean up an e-mail just "minimize" (little bar on top right of screen) your e-mail and activate the "e-mailStripper" then "reclick on your e-mail (bottom of the screen), click "forward" on the e-mail that you want to forward and then RIGHT click on the text of the e-mail and select SELECT ALL which will highlight the entire text, then RIGHT click again and select CUT. Minimize your e-mail and RIGHT click on the e-mailStripper and then select PASTE and then STRIP IT and magic the >>>'s are gone and the e-mail is re-assembled. Now reverse the process--RIGHT click on text, click SELECT ALL and then RIGHT click again and select CUT; re-click on your email program on the bottom of the screen and place the cursor (arrow) where the text should be and RIGHT click and select PASTE. In a matter of a few seconds you have cleaned up the e-mail and made the message much easier to read and the receipents of your forwards a lot happier. Good luck, O.H. "Mac McCullough mac72@att.net
Hello everyone, I am searching the following lines: - Granville Cecil Foster and Nancy Jane Davis family moved to Cass County in 1880's from Wayne County, KY. Settled near Buford Cemetery. Many descendents still remain in Cass County, would like to correspond with them. - Alva Victor Bagshaw and Amanda Belle Foster, daughter of Granville Foster (above). Looking for descendents and information regarding Bagshaw family. - Henson B. Hook and Martha Jane Carter family: moved from Lafayette County, Missouri to Pleasant Hill. Dear List Members, Lets have a Roll Call this weekend. The Roll Call will begin on Thursday Morning April 18th and continue on through Sunday evening April 21st. (PLEASE DO NOT BEGIN TO SEND YOUR ROLL CALL POSTINGS UNTIL THURSDAY MORNING.) Post your Surnames, dates townships if known and if you are posting to multiple counties that I take care of, be sure and mention county. If you are posting to a county along a state line when I take care of lists on both sides, you might also mention the state. You are welcome to post as much information as you wish and as little as long as there is a Surname, county and or time period. Be sure and watch the Subject line and CHANGE IT TO MATCH YOUR ROLL CALL POSTING to encourage members to read your message, such as ROLL CALL: SMITH, JONES, KELLETT 1830-1870 COUNTY NAME. PLEASE DO NOT JUST HIT RETURN AND TYPE IN YOUR INFORMATION!!!! CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE AND DELETE THE LAST MESSAGE LONG WITH TAGLINES. Following these instructions will make this a much better Roll Call for all our members including yourself. For those members who do not like Roll Calls, just delete the messages and know that come Sunday night - it will be over. I continue to appreciate your support. It is because of each of you that our list is as strong as it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Kathleen, Last year when we arrived at the Cass Co Library after a 4-hour trip, the Hist. Soc. room had locked up for lunch. Someone in the regular library told us they'd be back. After waiting for about 45 minutes, a lady came but we could only research about 2 hours before they closed again. I suggest you call before your trip. Had we known we'd be driving 8 hours for 2 hours of research, we would have planned to stay overnight. The good news is they pack a lot of information in that little basement corner room & the lady was very knowledgeable & helpful. We had good luck, making some great finds. Shirley Thank you so much. I'm coming from Ohio to the area to do research. I stopped there once before - it was a Thursday and they were closed. They are in the lower level of the library - right? Your kindness is much appreciated. Dear List Members, The First Quarterly Report for 2002 is going to be just a little different than the one I usually send to the Mailing Lists I take care of. I tore my Rotator Cuff in November of last year and I find that I cannot spend long hours typing on the computer during the healing process, therefore I am going to send out one message to all of my lists and skip posting the membership numbers this time. I promise to get back to our normal reporting next quarter. Typing over 200 messages is just more than this shoulder and arm can take. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. If you do notice that one of our members has a virus, please do not post their name and e-mail address across the list. Let me know and I will take care of the problem. Most likely the member already knows and is in a major state of stress. Receiving messages of each of us will only cause his or her stress level to rise. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any Rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will receive an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is.
