Dear List Members, the Roll Call is going great. Just keep remembering to post Roll Call in the Subject line and add a hint of what your posting is about. This is the best way to assure that your posting will be read. Don't forget the dates and if you are on a State list, don't forget the counties. Also, if you just click on Reply, don't forget to delete the message from the last person along with the tag lines. I appreciate each of you and how smoothly our Roll Call is going. Some of the other related lines to the above Wilmotts in Cass Co area.. Shanks, Dunlap, Miller, Parrott, Parker, Clarke, Hearne, Shortridge, Trollenger Graves- mid 1800s Dickerson - early 1900s> Sidebottom- 1940> thanks, chatty
I am searching the following lines: Joseph Quigley and Mary Quigley. They lived near Pleasant Hill. Joseph shot and killed his wife Mary and then killed himself on either August 17th or September 17th, 1877. They left behind 6 children. I am trying to find out where they are buried. I know there was a coroners inquest. Michael Quigley and wife Mary Murphy Quigley. They lived in Polk Township and are in the Polk Township, Cass County census from 1860 until 1880. Michael was Joseph's brother and took in one of the 6 children. She was probably a newborn when they took her. Her name was Anna Quigley. I'm trying to get any information I can on Michael Quigley and locate any descendents. If anyone has information as to whether Polk Township still exists or is now called something else, I need that information also. I would also like to find any deed records or cemetery records for Michael and his wife.
The Roll Call is a great idea. My Surnames of interest are: McSPADDEN, PORTER & CUMMINS/CUMMINGS Counties of interest: Old Van Buren, Bates, Cass, & Jackson Robert McSpadden married Margaret Porter 7 Aug 1832 in Rutherford Co, KY. They, along with Margaret's parents, Rev Samuel Porter, are enumerated in 1840 in Old Van Buren Co, MO. Robert McSpadden patented land along the Grand River - Some in Cass, some in Bates Co. In 1850, Robert McSpadden, wife Margaret, & sons Madison & Samuel are listed on the Bates Co, Dist. No 6 Being Census. In 1860, neither Robert or Margaret are listed, & the 2 boys are with Porter families. Madison with Hugh Porter in Jackson Co; Samuel is with the William Porter family in Jackson Co. It would appear the Robert & Margaret died between 1850 & 1860, but I have no dates nor where they are buried. I also found where Margaret McSpadden patented land as late as 1857 in Cass Co, Southwest of Garden City. Their son, my great grandfather, Madison Monroe McSpadden married Cassandra Cummings/Cummins or Casandra Cummins Coleman 12 Dec 1865 in Jackson Co, MO. He seems to have lived & died around Garden City, MO in Cass County. Here again, I have no dates or burial site. Any help appriciated. If you are related to these people, I'm very interested in communicating with you Thanks Bennett Andrews andrews@ionet.net
Hi, I research the line of Hendrickson, Laffoon, Lafoon, Maxwell, Powell,Rice Dalton, Fleming and others in Cass County and Jackson County, Missouri for my father's paternal family. I also research Wolf, Wolfe, Butts, Capper on my father's maternal line. So far they are mostly in nearby Miami County, Kansas. I live in Jackson Co. MO which is not far from either. I've searched Census records from 1920, 1910 and 1900 Miami Co. and 1920, 1910 for Cass Co. and will be searching 1900 Cass Co. I do also have a line of Miller's on my Hendrickson side. Cemeteries I visit are Cleveland, Corinth and West Union in Cass Co. I am needing to visit Freeman and Belton as well. In Miami Co., KS I visit Louisburg City Cemetery. Thanks to all. Hi Joanne, I need some more info; Frank's mom's name and death date may help and do you know where she died?(don't know if there's a local paper in 1880 or not, but I'll check) I'll look for tax records or estate records; not positive what's available. Also, do you have the 1880 census record? It may have been taken after her death? or if before her death and the McRoberts lived nearby, neighbors often took in children who had no other family. I know it's available at the library, but don't want to duplicate work already done. Also did Frank have any siblings? E-mail me direct with what you do know and I'll see if I can dig anything up. Kim, I am looking for Simson Hasting, and Adeline, around the 1850's to 1860's. Also my grandfather Clarence Hastings, and Laura Alice Brooks. Simson I believe was my gggrandfather. I know that they did migrate to Rose Hill Township also. I am also looking for Whisler, Wissler, Whistler. I know they were in That area. The Hasting, Hastings name is the one that I am having a difficult time with. I see on the 1860 Census in Rose Hill Township, Johnson County that there is a Simson, Adaline, Lenia L. and Eliza Mason listed. The Surnames I am interested in are Hasting, Hastings, Mason, Elliot, Brooks, Whisler, Wissler, Wistler, Strope, Corbit. Thanks, Carol French California

I thought with the current roll call, now would be a great time to mention I live in Harrisonville, near the library and visit there frequently. If you have a specific request I would be glad to look for it while there. Local papers since the mid 1880s are available on microfilm and I can check those if you have a specific date and preferably a specific location. Please do not ask me to check for a large time span, I have done that for my own research and dread doing so. Lots of county information is available of course, deed records, plat book, census, cemetery indexes, etc. Again, the more specific the request the better. I am happy to help if I can. Kim
Roll call -- great Idea I'm looking for Ruble, Irons, Cox, Badger, Pasley Thanks Wayne Dykstra patwayne@oregontrail.net
Hi Kim Regarding your offer of a library lookup. Is there a census or tax list after 1880 and on or before 1890 that might give me information about the people who raised my grandfather Frank Williams after his mother died in 1880. He was taken in by the McRoberts family. They only McRoberts I have found in Cass County around that time is Carroll and Lucinda McRoberts. I was hoping that there would be some document that would show him living with them between 1880 and 1890. Frank was 7 when his mother died. Thanks for any suggestions or help you can give me. Believed to have had three children: Samuel Henry Martin - (1864-1932) Abraham Martin - unknown birth and death dates Hannah Martin - unknown birth and death dates This family may be buried in the West Union Cemetery in Cass County. Marlene, Only two Barnetts listed in Freeman Cemetery: Earlene Barnett b. 1922 (no death date) Ivan J b. 1909 (no death date) No Randolphs listed. Hope this helps! Lea
Lisa, Contact me at phendrel@mail.win.org and I will scan you an article about these families. Susan White died June of 1875, I will see if it is in the Freeman Cemetery when I go to the library this afternoon. I don't live in Cass County but the St. Louis library has many of the books on cemeteries. Spangler fits to one of my family trees by marriage. Thank Max for the instruction on how to delete the "taglines". I heard that there was a way, but just didn't know how. I'll try to follow your directions. Thanks again. Grace
