    1. [MOCASS] Graham/Wheeler/Cass County
    2. My grandfather's grandfather was Edward M. Wheeler, who lived in Cass County, MO, sometime in the 1840's until immediately after the Civil War, when he moved to IL. He was born and raised in KY. He married Barbara Ann Roberson in Harrisonville, Cass Co, MO, in 1849, and their first child, Mary Catherine Wheeler, was born in 1850 in Harrisonville. I am wondering if these folks might be in the resources such as Cass County Families book or the other materials that have been mentioned in relation to the Graham family. Thank you so much for any help. Frances

    3. Hi In the book History of Cass and Bates Counties published in 1883, there is a mention of an Obituary for a Mr John S Wheeler who died in 1882. His wife was Melissa Roberson. Would this be a relative of your edward? 2. Do you have the information from The History of Harrisonville, MO regard Aquilla (Quillar) and Mary Graham. Hiram and Mary (Bouse) Graham are also listed. ? If not, I can copy it and foward it to you. It lists their children. There is a photo of Mary (Wheeler) Graham which I can try to scan. This book was published by Harrisonville Heritage Ass'n, Harrisonville, MO 1988 and printed by Walsworth Publishing Co., Marceline, MO. I don't know if it is still in print. I inherited my copy from Grandmother. Susan N. Stice

The family remained in Arkansas only a short time and while Hiram was a small child they moved to Cass County and entered a tract of land a few miles south of Plesant Hill. Hiram grew to manhood on this farm. However, during the Civil War, while "Order No. 11" was in effect, the widowed mother took her family to Howard County, returning to the home in Cass County when all danger had passed. This Hiram married Mary Margaret Bouse. There is a little more about Hiram and Mary Margaret if you are interested. Susan N. Stice

    1. [MOCASS] Clemens Family
    2. DEBORAH STIBBENS
    3. I am searching for information on the Clemens family who moved to Cass County from Moniteau Co, MO. In a 1931 obituary of James McDaniel (he married Lucinda M. "Nellie" Clemens) two of her brothers were listed as living in Pleasant Hill. They were Frank and Green Clemens. The parents of these Clemens siblings were John and Mary Jane Clark Clemens. I believe they moved to Cass Co. sometime after 1880. Some of the other children were James, Sarah, and Birdie. According to one source Mary Jane Clemens had about 12 children. I would appreciate any help or suggestions on where to look next. I was hoping that somebody might remember the family. Thanks so much, Deborah Hume Stibbens

    3. Dear List Members, I know this list will effect only a few of you, but thought I would let you know of it beginning. The Buffalo-Hunters Mailing list was approved yesterday and now is ready to subscribe to. If you have ancestors who were Buffalo Hunters and or are interested in their history, this list will be the place to learn about the Buffalo Hunters of the Old West. I had two great uncles who were hired by the U.S. Government as Buffalo Hunters. Living in 2002 I know what they did caused starvation to a group of people, waste and the near annihilation of a species. Of this I am not proud, but what they did is a part of the history of this country and I am proud of them for doing what they thought was right at that time. To join, send only the word SUBSCRIBE to BUFFALO-HUNTERS-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM I look forward to the Buffalo-Hunters Mailing List becoming another tool for each of us to understand the world out ancestors lived in. Their first (my grandfather) William Lawrence George b July 21, 1880 m Mary Adaline Garrett b 1887 Albert, TX. Euphamia (DAU) b Mar 1882 Enock E. (SON) b Aug 1885 Francis C. (DAU) b Apr 1887 William was widowed prior to 1900 and by 1910 he had moved to Willow City (Gillespie Co) TX. There he owned and operated a general store until it's destruction by fire. William does not appear on 1920 census, no death cert is available at state or county levels. I have and am researching MO census but have found so many William D's that, well, you can't see the forest for the trees. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but the lists will be down for a while when it happens; during this time, please don't post "why am I not getting mail"....you will get your mail when the system comes back up, and you don't want half of it to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting mail. If you have trouble reaching other RW servers this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three..... Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [MOCASS] Campbell family
    2. Craig Campbell
    3. Hello I have a Campbell family that came to MO. in the 1880's settling in Cass County. John Campbell and his wife Deborah died in 1899 and are buried in Raymore Cemetery. Some of there children remained in Cass County until death in the 1920's to 1960's By the early 1900's my great grandfather Henry Duncan Campbell and family moved to the Henry - Bates Counties area. I'm trying to connect with any Campbell's who may be related. Henry's father was John Campbell 1817 - 1899, born in PA. moved to OH 1858 and onto MO. in 1883. Getting past John has been dificult and hoping maybe someone is researching the same Campbell's (worth a try). I have quite a lot of info on the John Campbell family after moving to OH if anyone is interested. Craig Campbell

    3. And with that Resolution/Chapter 11, after they migrated across the state border into Miami, Linn & Johnson counties in Kansas, some later moved on west to other counties. Some of ours stayed in Miami & Linn cos for a while, then went to Atchison & Leavenworth cos; others stayed in Miami & Linn, but none went back to their farms in the MO counties from where they were forced to leave. The 1867 Miami Co reconstructed census (taken from tax records) shows John, Robert & Thomas Jackson (all living in different twps), among the 12 Jacksons listed. Robert is with a Margaret. The list of names & their twps & can be seen at http://skyways.lib.ks.us/kansas/genweb/miami/library/1867census1.html . ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Nichols" <rnichols@irtc.net> To: <MOCASS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 06, 2002 10:31 PM Subject: Re: [MOCASS] Thomas Jackson (Cass County, Missouri) > I have found that after Chapter 11.. many of my family went back to where > they came from to live with family members or went to live with other > relatives..so sometimes going backwards give you some clues as to where they > went > chatty > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Ken Jackson" <ken@score.com> > To: <MOCASS-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, May 06, 2002 12:08 PM > Subject: [MOCASS] Thomas Jackson (Cass County, Missouri) > > > > > > > > Hi....I have a brick wall in Missouri....If there is anyone researching > > Missouri that could steer me in the right direction to finding my > ancestors, > > I would greatly appreciate it. 2. Jane Singer
    3. Urgently seeking info on Confederate Civil War soldier, Thomas F. Harney. He stated he was born in Blair County, Pennsylvania, possible in 1837. By 1861, he was living in Harrisonville, Cass County. He said he was a schoolteacher. It is possible that the family name was Harvey. Harney was originally with the Missouri State Guard, 3rd Infantry, 8th division, 6th Missouri Infantry and finally, the Torpedo Bureau. No trace of him has been found in Blair County, Pennsylvania. He seems to exist only in his service records as no trace of him can be found after 1865. I would be eternally grateful to anyone who might have any info. Jane Singer

    3. In my search experience, my gg grandfather moved his family from Kentucky to Cass Co., MO about the time the Civil War broke out and was in the 1860 Cass Co. Census. He moved back to Kentucky by 1870 and eventually on to Oklahoma. In another family, who was from Vermilion Co., IL, they moved up to South Dakota in the 1880s, then down to Missouri and over to Oklahoma by 1920. It may be that your Jackson family moved around quite a bit, just like so many other families during this period. I would check census indexes for states surrounding Missouri and westward. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
