Carol, the Whisler line is on the Genconnect site at Rootsweb.com http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=DESC&db= :1072280&id=I52214133 I am distantly connected to this line through William Henry Whisler and I have his line through to the present in CA. I will shortly be putting this info on genconnect. I have connections with two Clemmens/Clements/etc families, one in Cass Co and one in Nodaway Co, MO. I don't know it they are related. The one in Cass Co is related to the Colburn line of Methodist ministers. Hope this info helps. I have a Stephen W. Stout and wife Mary Jane Davis, both 25, who lived in Grand River, Cass Co. in 1880 census with Emma, 5, and Liza, 3. I would like to know if they are buried in Cass Co. I think maybe Stephen died and Mary Jane remarried to a Mr. Anderson. Could someone check the cemetery books for a Stout? Thanks a lot, Margie Bridges
Joanne - Thank you so much for sending the article on John S. Wheeler of Cass County, MO. It fills in pieces of the big jigsaw puzzle. I very much appreciate your help and interest in searching for the family of Edward M. Wheeler. Frances
Aline - Thank you for your reply. I received an e-mail from Susan Stice with the information from the History of Harrisonville, MO, on Aquilla and Mary Graham. Thank you for referring me to her. I have not been able to figure a connection between that Mary Wheeler and the family of my Edward M. Wheeler. Edward's mother was a Mary, but she died the year he was born, in 1819, in KY. I do not know her maiden name. Please keep the Wheelers in mind if you should happen to come across the line of Edward M. Wheeler and his wife's family, Roberson. Thank you so much for your help and interest. Frances

I would greatly appreciate lookups in the Pleasant Hill area of any Hammonds (also spelled Hammon, Hammons, Hammonds, etc.). I am especially interested in brothers John Robert and William H. Hammond, their mother Lucy, and their wives Mary Owings Rodgers and Agnes Martha Rodgers. The Rodgers sisters were raised by their mother's Thomas relatives in the area. The Hammonds did not stay in Cass Co. after the Civil War - their farms were burned out. Thank you. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? New! SBC Yahoo! From History of Cass and Bates Counties, National Historical Co 1883. "DIED: At his residence on Independence Street, Harrisonville, on Sunday the 27th of August 1882 at 9PM, Mr. John S Wheeler, aged 65 years 4 months and 15 days. Mr. Wheeler was on of the old settlers of this county, having lived here more than 42 years. Born in 1817, he came to this county from Kentucky, in 1839. He was married to Melissa C. Roberson, April 5, 1843, Uncle Billy Ferrell officiating. These names are familiar to many of the old pioneers. Years come and pass away, and with each on some dear familiar face leaves us, but perhaps few men have lived and died in Cass County mourned by as many as Uncle John. He was content with his quiet life. Happy in doing his duty when and where he found it, and so he died, but the memory of his words and deeds will remain with all who knew him until they too join the innumerable throng. His noble wife, who had lived through these years to comfort and bless him in his old age, was with him while he breath his last and his soul went up to God." ----- Original Message ----- From: <LuvKUHawks@aol.com> To: <MOCASS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 08, 2002 6:27 PM Subject: Re: [MOCASS] Graham/Wheeler/Cass County > Joanne - > Yes, this John S. Hello, I don't have any information on Mary Wheeler, except that she was the wife of Aquilla Graham, but have just received an e-mail from Susan N. Stice, and she possibly could help you. She has a history book of Cass County printed in 1988. I would be interested in the Wheelers also. I do have the children's names of Aquilla and Mary Wheeler. Susan, Thanks so much for your replies. I do not have any history on Cass Co, MO. I would love to have anything you can send. Aquilla Graham was a brother to Hiram Graham, my great, great grandfather. The one born in Arkansas was a nephew to my Hiram. I would love to see the picture of Hiram and Mary Bouse Graham. I have a picture of my Hiram and Louisa Graham. It would be exciting to compare. In May, we visited Independence, MO, and actually drove through Cass County, but I didn't know at that time that my Graham family probably lived in Cass County. I didn't realize that they had been formed from Jackson County. Since Nancy Graham, mother of Aquilla and Hiram and others was married to a Butterfield in Jackson County, I am wondering if she actually lived in what is now Cass County. Joanne - Yes, this John S. Wheeler is the brother of Edward M. Wheeler. His wife was, as I recall, the sister of Edward's wife, Barbara. I am definitely interested in this article. Thank you for your help. Frances
Dear List Members, Here it is the first of July and I am late in sending you the Second Quarterly Report. I was in Maryland and Delaware enjoying three of my children their spouses and five of my grandchildren for the 4th of July. Due to the lateness of this report I am not going to send the individual numbers of members for each of the lists I take care of. It is an all day job. If any of you really want to know how many are on your list, just e-mail me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net and ask. Be sure and let me know what list you are asking about. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. I know there are exceptions to most rules including this one. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting, something I have done or not done. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me.
