    1. [MOCASS] Lone Jack/Battle of Lone Jack, Missouri Ancestors
    2. Ladyhawk197
    3. Hello Everyone, I'm the President of the Friends of Historic Lone Jack and we are in the process of trying to save the western portion of the Lone Jack battlefield, which includes, what we believe to be, a portion of the original Cave Hotel. The remaining portion of the battlefield is in grave danger of being lost to commercialization. We've already lost the eastern portion - it is now a subdivision. The Lone Jack battlefield is a Priority II on the National Park Services list of endangered battlefields. http://www2.cr.nps.gov/abpp/priority.htm We hope to verify that the building in question is indeed a part of the original structure with an archeological survey and to then restore it. I am trying to locate direct descendants of Bart and Lucinda Cave with the hopes that they may have information that will help with the restoration or reconstruction of the Cave Hotel. I am also looking for descendants of anyone who fought in the Battle of Lone Jack, August 16, 1862 and for any descendants of any residents of early Lone Jack. We are seeking information, pictures, etc. for inclusion in the historical society's archives. We are asking for your help to save this battlefield. Donations & Public awareness to the plight of this battlefield are vital. The Friends of Historic Lone Jack are 501c3 Non-Profit Organization. For more information on the Save the Battlefield efforts and what you can do to help, please see our website: http://www.geocities.com/lone_jack_mo Any help locating descendants or information will be greatly appreciated. 1. [MOCASS] Downs
    2. I have two Davis relatives who married Downs and I wondered if there were any descendents left in Cass Co. Rhoda Bell Davis b 18 Aug 1884 in Harrisonville, Cass Co., m. Abraham Franklin Downs on 25 Nov 1901. Son of Russell Burrell Downs and Margaret Ann Grainger. Born 18 apr 1874 in Whitehall, Greene Co., IL and d. 9 Nov 1952 in Webb City, Jasper Co., MO. When and where did Rhoda die? I have one daughter Mary Elmeda, who married Grover Cleveland Hook in 1924 in Freeman, Cass Co. Rhoda had a cousin Emma Lee Stout b. ca 1875, married John Downs on 30 Aug. 1891 at Harrisonville. I think their children were Stella Flawn b. 1895; Ross O'Neil, b. 17 Nov 1899 at West Line, Cass Co., died in Texas, m. Maude Phelps; and Maxine Algernon Downs (male), b. 8 Dec. 1903, m. Ethel Lizzie Joy on 18 Sep 1926, both died in Texas. Any help in proving this would be appreciated. Margie Bridges

    3. Dear List Members, With so many of you changing e-mail address I figured it was time to send instructions as to how to remove yourself from one address and then subscribe again with the new one. From the e-mail you can unsubscribe yourself from any or all of the mailing lists. or Just send the word UNSUBSCRIBE to NAMEOFLIST-L-@ROOTSWEB.COM (Change NAMEOFLIST to the name of the list and change L to D if you are on the Digest List) When you are ready to re-subscribe all you need to do is send the word SUBSCRIBE to NAMEOFLIST-L-@ROOTSWEB.COM (Change NAMEOFLIST to the name of the list and change L to D if you want to subscribe to the Digest List.) 3. Thanks Saundra! This could be him. When his first wife remarried I always thought he had died, but then I found an obit for one of his sons who says he is still living in 1947 whereabouts unknown. The rest of the family stayed in the Christian/Stone Co. area. 3. This is a long shot but I'm at my "brick wall". I am looking for info on a Fred Pope b. abt 1895-1997 d. aft 1947. He completely disappears. I believe his son Lowell Pope b. 1923, dies n Pleasant Hill, Cass Co. MO in July 1992. I am hoping that maybe Lowell moved to Cass Co. from the Christian Co. area to be with his father. If anyone has any info on either of these I would appreciate it!! Thanks, Cindy

    2. Sorry Don, I forgot to inform the Cass list that personal mail to me needs to be sent to CassMoFind@aol.com After having my old e-mail address for so long, I had to put controls on it because I was getting an average of 150 pcs of spam mail a day. Eventually, I'll be doing away with that address all together. So far, I've had no problems with the CassMoFind address so everyone can reach me through it or you can always reach me through the Cass County mailing list. Looking forward to hearing from you. The family and friends of Mrs. Ed Williams of this city had known for several weeks that she was critically ill and no hope could be given for her recovery. Death came as a relief from her suffering March 26, 1948 at the family home at 803 north Independence, this city. Della Lurena Williams daughter of JOHN H AND LUELLA L BOWMAN, was born near Butler August 17, 1877 and was 70 years 7 months and 09 days old. When 15 years of age, the family moved to Adrian. A short time after that she united with the United Brethren church. Sept 21, 1897, she was married to Williams Edward Williams. they established their home in Adrian and lived there until 1920 when they purchased the A.J.SHARP property in Harrisonville and continued to live there. One son, FLOYD C WILLIAMS was born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Williams united with the first Baptist church here in 1937. Through the years they enjoyed the fellowship and the church work as long as they were physically able. Her church, home and family were always very dear to her and her life was always a fine influence on those with whom she came in contact. She was indeed quite happy when they celebrated their golden Wedding anniversary in the home of her brother A.B. BOWMAN last September. Her parents and one brother proceeded her in death. 1. [MOCASS] WHEELER/Cass Co, MO
    2. Cheri - Greetings! You helped me tons a few years ago when I was beginning to look for information on my grandfather's mother's parents, Edward M. Wheeler and Barbara Ann Roberson, who lived in Cass Co, MO, in the 1840's, 1850's, and part of the 1860's. Edward M. was the son of Charles Wheeler, and was born in Adair Co, KY, in 1819. I am wondering if you have added any information to that line in the past couple of years. Frances
