1. [MOCASS] Cass County Master Cemetery Index On-Line
2. The NEW Cass County Master Cemetery Index is now available for viewing on-line. To view the index go to: CASS MO FIND http://members.fortunecity.com/cassmofind The CassMOFind site will remain in operation in order to host the Master Cemetery Index and to offer the cemetery records for sale on CD and Books. This index is listed alphabetically by surname and also includes full names and maiden names (if available), year of birth and death and cemetery. There are 46,828 names contained in this index. Many, many names have been added to the old records, including those who were buried without markers. Due to the large size of the files, the CassMoFind site has had to reduce other files and features carried on the site. The New Updated Master Obit list will be hosted by the Cass County Historical Society. That URL will be made available to you as soon as the site is up. Their obit collection now contains over 46,000 names. In the meantime, enjoy searching the index and have a safe and Happy Holiday. Merry Christmas, Brenda & Debbi

3. Nancy, Thanks and you are right, roaming through the census and checking neighbors is a good link to finding family ties, as many children of families listed, married neighbors. Thanks for the listing. 3. Hi David, the only KY background I know of in these people is the niece of Benjamin McDonald, Sarah Ann McDonald Stevens (wife of James Stanley Stevens). Benjamin was apparently a Bigwig businessman in Pleasant Hill, judging from his obit, and he and Sarah both came from Green County KY (Osceola). I don't recognize any of the other names you post as part of this family. Does everybody know that the 1880 census is available free at familysearch.org now? Fascinating to roam around and see who were the neighbors. Any of yours from KY as some of these are found in Harrison and Nicholas Cos, KY.(;-) Curious if you have any connection to CAVE, RAVENSCRAFT, FULTON lines. My ANDERSON and LONG families are connected to those lines who also lived in Strasburg and Pleasant Hill. 3. I went looking for Heritage Quest at my own local library and, voila!, there it was. I do live near a big city, which may make a difference, but it is a suburban branch library, and not the big city one, but part of its system, I'm sure. You might be pleasantly surprised to find that your own library has it. Nancy

2. Alan Price
3. This was sent to me regarding the Heritage Quest site, it rather explains a lot. It appears... that the library has chosen to restrict access to this site after it was publicized on these lists. The password was listed at the site, but now it is not. The following message, which was not there last week, now appears: > > "Librarians will be receiving passwords for this link soon. > > "Access to HeritageQuest is restricted to use in West Virginia libraries. > Visit your local public library to explore this great source of > information." so save yourself the frustration and don't look there.

3. I'm not really sure if they were from Pleasant Hill, but it is very possible. Elizabeth died in 1852 leaving 1 son from the first marriage, and a daughter Elizabeth Thomas Freeman from their marriage. The daughter was born about 1853 so she was an infant when her mother died. The rest of the Freeman family was in Pleasant Hill. I just haven't done any work on her yet. I will certainly check out your leads!! Arlene

3. Was this Elizabeth Thomas by any chance related to the Thomas family of the Pleasant Hill area who reared the two daughters of Dr. Hardin Rodgers after he died (1840s-1850s)? One of his wives was a Thomas, I believe, and the other a cousin of the first, though her name may have been Wilson. They were originally from KY and also related to the Sorencys. The Rodger girls married two Hammond brothers. Any connection at all? --- Cassmofind@aol.com wrote: > Elizabeth (Thomas) Freeman is buried in the > THOMAS Cemetery which is located > southwest of Pleasant Hill. > There is an obit on file for Sarah A Freeman > (1838-1914) who is buried in > Lynn, IN. > There is no listing for Thomas Fountain Freeman > who was born in 1806. 1. Re: [MOCASS] Thomas Fountain Freeman
2. Elizabeth (Thomas) Freeman is buried in the THOMAS Cemetery which is located southwest of Pleasant Hill. There is an obit on file for Sarah A Freeman (1838-1914) who is buried in Lynn, IN. There is no listing for Thomas Fountain Freeman who was born in 1806. However there is a listing for a Thomas Fountain Freeman who was born in 1860 in Oakland Cemetery who may have been a nephew.

2. Arlene
3. Hi, I am repeating this message as I do not know if anyone was able to read it the first time. I'm searching for information on Thomas Fountain Freeman who was born in Fauquier VA about 1808, moved to Bath County, KY and in about 1843 located to Jackson Co., MO. He married 3 times. Once to Elizabeth Cowherd, 2nd to Elizabeth Thomas and last to Sarah Ann Eliza Houston. Thomas and wife Ann lived the remainder of their lives in Greenwood. Does anyone have any information as to when they may have passed and where they are buried? I've checked (or had checked) Greenwood, Lee's Summit and they are not there. Smaller cemeteries in the area were checked with no luck. I'm hoping someone just might "know" where they are buried. Please help if you possibly can. And thanks so much!!
