    3. Hi A large source of leads to family-history data is now on line. It is comprised of the Tables of Contents of the first 22 volumes of the Missouri State Genealogical Association Journal, 1981-2002+. Importantly, below the Tables of Contents, is an index. Reviewers find the whole page easily navigated despite the great amount of data included. A few of the key words with which to search the index are county names, directions (east, south, north, west), and family surnames (for Bible records). Use your browsers search function. When you find interesting leads on the web page, you will probably want to see actual copies of the Journal. Many libraries subscribe to the Journal. There is also information, below the index on the web page, on how to obtain copies of articles or issues. One can get an idea as to the length of an article in the Journal by noting the page numbers where it begins and where the following article begins. However, some articles are serialized over two to four issues. The URL is <http://www.rollanet.org/~bdoerr/contents.htm>http://www.rollanet.org/~bdoerr/contents.htm >

    1. [MOCASS] From List Mom - A few items to help you.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller’s Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the archived messages of this list or any other Rootsweb mailing list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. When posting a query regarding a surname it would help all of us if you would put your surname in CAPS. This way the members can easily pick out the surnames you are looking for. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now, the hardest thing is, when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting from one of us. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents when they send their unhappiness to the entire list. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. 1. [MOCASS] Pleasant Hill - looking for burial 1840
    2. Hello, Just signed on and hoping someone can help. Per the following obituary, December 1840 - Missouri Democrat Newspaper - I am trying to locate the burial of Capt. John Sterne. Do you think this is the correct "Pleasant Hill" in Cass Co they are naming? (1840) DIED, On the 27th inst, at Pleasant Hill, (the residence of J L Quisenberry,) Capt John Sterne, a Virginia, in the 80th year of his age.  About five days before his death, he seemed to be sensible that his dissolution was near at hand, and became much interested about his soul's salvation.  On the day before he died, he said he had, by faith, seen Heaven, and he felt like he had a place there.  He was perfectly resigned to death; and his relations and friends may console themselves, that through his absent from us, yet, we believe, he is present with the Lord.  ;Though deep the slumbers of the tomb, Though dark that bed of clay, Yet shall he wake and leave that gloom.. For everlasting day. ;  (The editors of the Fredericksburg papers will please copy)  Corth. end obit Capt John Sterne's daughter named Elizabeth was married to a James Quisenberry, and I find them St Louis census in 1850. The family came from Stafford Co Va after 1820. Any leads welcome, even to just confirm I have the correct "Pleasant Hill". Thanks Anne

    3. There is also a township of that name in Sullivan Co., MO. Have you found Capt. Sterne or the Quisenberrys in the 1840 census? 2. Sandy, As you say Williams is a common name. I am a relative of Charles Henry Williams, (b. 1857, died 1931) married Georgie Ann Baker (b.1858 and died January 22, 1948) on March 29, 1877 in Saint Louis, Missouri. They lived in Henry County, Mo. and had five daughters and one son. Charles and Georgie Ann's Interment at Englewood cemetery, Henry Co. Mo. I have heard that Charles had at least one brother but no details are known. Probably no connection to your John but who knows. Happy Hunting, Ray Haverland

Lookw lik3 you are still stumped too, eh? I lost your email address when I lost my computer in December storms here. We had 70 mph winds and lost power for three weeks. Not fun to loose power in Dec.(;-) Was an eventful Christmas.(;-) How are things going with your research. Someone in KY has been trying to contact me and we keep boucing phone calls. She keeps saying she has something important to share with me, but I have been trying to call her for 5 months. When she does call, I am not home. Driving me nuts. Let me know if you have any luck. You still have me going whether or not what I have on Nancy is correct and you are correct in assuming she was William's daughter and not the one I have listed.(;-) Sincerely, David Silverjox@aol.com wrote: > IS ANYONE OUT THERE RELATED OR KNOW OF JOHN C. Foggy Coast Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit I am looking for relatives of John Henry Williams who married Amanda Louise Moore, daughter of Cornelius Moore in Austin, Cass County. I know that John Henry was the son of James Williams, brother to E.G., E.B, or Deng Williams. Williams is a very common name, so it has been difficult to find out any information. John Henry was a painter, born 1860 in MO (don't know where) and died 1900 in Little Rock, Arkansas. John Henry and Amanda had two children, Arthur Leslie and Samuel Oscar.
