Hi What are the charges for the photos? I have several in Pitts Chapel cemetery that I would like to have. They are: Elizabeth Pennington 1813-1887 John Pennington 1840-1925 Sarah Harding ND-1914 Virinda Ward 1848-1919 Phares Ward ND 1913 Thank you. By the way, I teach a small group of researchers and I read the article on 'grave dowsing'. We have tried it and it works. My son in law went with us and he is hooked.......carries his dowsing rods with him at all times! Also is there a discounted price on the CD's to libraries? Thanks again Betty L. Is there anyone on the list that will do obituary lookups for two people buried in the Pitts Chapel Cemetery in Cass County? Their names are: Christopher Columbus McGee who died in 1914. Emma Etta McGee who died 4 Aug 1951. I believe they lived in Harrisonville, but could not say definitely. I would appreciate any help available. Jane A. Colorado
If your server is not Attbi.com then you are not a part of the buyout, so as I mentioned just delete the message. It was for our Attbi.com members. Dear List Members, If you were effected by the Comcast buy out, then you need to read this, if not delete it. Just this evening, I have receive over 100 requests for me to change e-mail address to a Comcast address. Many of these requests mention multiple lists of which the sender needs their e-mail address changed. It will take me a good week or so to get through them all. My suggestion is; If you still have the ability to unsubscribe go to PASSWORD Central at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ type in your old e-mail address, and follow the directions. You will receive an e-mail from which you can unsubscribe. If you can't do this, then you will just need to re-subscribe with your new address and let the old one bounce off. To re-subscribe this go to John Fuller's mailing list site http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html or remember you can subscribe and or unsubscribe by sending only the word UNSUBSCRIBE or SUBSCRIBE to XXXXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM or XXXXXX-D-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM if you are on the Digest List. Naturally change the XXXXXX to the name of the list. If all else fails, contact me, but be understanding if it takes me a while to get to you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
For those of you who are visiting the cemeteries and graves of your loved ones, your ancestors this weekend and have a few extra flowers, think of placing them on one of the lonely graves which are never visited. Or, if you are living in an area where you have no one, think of visiting a cemetery and placing flowers by one of these lonely graves. I live in Logan Utah and tomorrow I will be visiting several local cemeteries and will be placing flowers on graves. Over the past years I have adopted these graves, these people and I hope that someone out there is doing the same for my loved ones. This is the day to remember those who came before us, who forged the paths that we now walk. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Hi, Kathleen Burnett, List Mom. It is such a coincidence that you are List Mom on 2 geographic mailing lists for Cass Co., MO and Caddo Co., OK because I follow both lists. I'm looking for parents of Willis WILSON b. 1872 Harrisonville, Cass Co., MO, m. 1893 in Edhube, Fannin Co., TX to Eula STEWART b. 1874 Whitewright, Fannin Co., TX. Both buried in Carnegie Cem, Caddo Co., OK. If you or any of the listers know of this couple, I would appreciate contact. Thanks in advance, Jayne in Texas
Dear List Members, It is that time of year when some of you will be leaving on Vacations. You might want to consider unsubscribing from the list while you are gone and then resubscribing when you return. The easiest way to do this is by using Password Central. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will receive a e-mail list of all Rootsweb Mailing Lists you belong to. You can unsubscribe using this e-mail. Save it and you then have a list of mailing lists you want to re-subscribe to. When you return, you can check the Archives for this list at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Just type in the name of the list and you can check the messages for the dates you were gone. The following was shared with me and I think it is one of the best Maps I have seen showing the growth and history of the United States. http://www.animatedatlas.com/movie.html I appreciate each of you and know that it is because of you our list is the success it is. If you are looking for Austin, and the cemetery, it isn't hard to find. If you go to Archie and go East on Hwy A about 4 miles to Hwy B. Take a left on B and follow it around the curves you will be in Austin. The only thing left there is houses, there are no businesses anymore. The last to close up was Homer Luther's garage, and I'm not sure how long ago he left. The Store closed in the 60's and is no longer even standing. I grew up there and miss all that is gone. To go to the cemetery instead of the town....go the same way, but instead of going around the first curve, take off on the gravel road, then make the first right onto another gravel road. Follow that road around and the cemetery will be on the left hand side of the road, you can't miss it. Enjoy your trip. Connelly Cemetery, Dayton Township, Cass County, Mo. As you turn off of the blacktop road, Route B, and onto the gravel road, Connelly Lane, on the corner to your left on the East side of the gravel road use to be an old school house, but was sold and converted into a family home. My brother and sister use to attend the school, which was often called "Connelly," I often visited with the joy of a five year old. Hello Everyone, My name is Alinda Miller and I'm with the Friends of Historic Lone Jack. I am working on a research project trying to identify the soldiers that fought at the Battle of Lone Jack on August 16, 1862. We have over 270 unidentified soldiers buried on the battlefield and it is our dearest wish to name all of these soldiers and to place a memorial with each name on it. If you have any information on any of the soldiers that fought at Lone Jack on August 16, 1862, I would be very grateful if you would contact me. I will gladly pay for any copy and/or postage costs. Below are listed the units, both Federal and Confederate, that we know were there, however, there may be others. Thank you in advance for any and all help! Alinda M. My family is planning a trip to Cass, Co in July. Our ancestor, Capt. Henry K. Ritter was a prominent citizen (according to his obit in 1879) in Austin. He owned a drug store and mill, was an elder in Presbyterian church and was the worshipful master in the Merridian Sun Lodge (Masons). We'd like to see where the store, church, lodge, and mill are/were as well as his home and the Austin cemetary. Can anyone tell us how to find out where these places are/were? Thanks, Linda
