    1. [MOCASS] Obituaries Now Available
    2. In case some of you have not found it yet, the Cass Co. Historical Society now has their website up that lists the obituaries they have available. Check to see if your ancestors are listed. This list coincides with the master cemetery index at CassMoFind. There are also many obituaries of people who were buried outside of Cass Co. but had some sort of Cass Co. connection since the obits were found in the local papers. The address for the obituary list is: http://www.casscountyhistoricalsociety.org/Obituaries.asp Debbi http://members.fortunecity.com/cassmofind

    1. [MOCASS] Re: Joseph H. Page
    2. In the book we have a notation that the information came from family records, the obituary does not give burial information and that he has no stone. I can not find my original listing to see who the submitter was. It should be written on his obit card at the archives. Because the information was submitted and we could not prove that he was NOT buried there, we had to include him in the listings. We felt the notations at the bottom would clarify that no official documentation was found which is why we included the notations in the book. Brenda Marble

    2. Don L. Fox
    3. Hi Brenda, I noticed that you show Joseph H. Page as being buried in Lost Creek cemetery in your cemetery index. I would like to know where you got that information since there is no record that I know of telling that he was buried there. There is no tombstone for him there. There is one for his first wife but he was married again and had a family with his second wife. I'm just curious since I have been trying to find an obit or some proof of his burial location for many years. I know who said that he was buried there but they could never show any proof. It was just a guess. Don L. Fox DonFox@cybertrails.com

    1. Re: [MOCASS] HARVEY / STALL, Cass Co. Missouri,
    2. Doreen, Neither Nancy or Henry Stall have obits available at the Cass County Historical Society. However, the library does not staff a full set of the Creighton Banner which is probably the paper that they would be found in. I have heard that there is a full set of the Creighton Banner available somewhere but do not know where. Maybe someone on the list can make a suggestion. You might also check the Henry County papers as I believe several Creighton residents had their obits published there. Nancy and Henry are buried in the same location in Grant Cemetery as a whole slew of STALL's. I don't know how much research you have done on the STALL family but chances are they are relation since they are buried in the same area of the cemetery. We tried to cross-reference these relationships but unless we were able to find some kind of documentation we did not include it in our books. It would probably be worth your time to check out the full master cemetery list located at CASS MO FIND to see if you can make any connections. Brenda Marble

    1. [MOCASS] Announcement: BRICKER SURNAME DNA PROJECT
    2. The various Bricker families in the U.S. and Canada today descend from immigrants of different faiths who arrived here from Switzerland, Germany, France, Britain, and Eastern Europe. Some of us know who those immigrants were by having either inherited or created our own family trees on paper, sometimes stretching our family origins back as far as to the 1500s. Others among us are aware of our Bricker roots only going back as far as parents or grandparents. By taking advantage of recently-affordable technology, however, together we can now help clarify our roots by having scientists read the genetic record that half of us carry within us, in our Y-chromosome DNA. Just like the Bricker last name, an exact or nearly exact copy of a man's "Y" chromosome is passed on, generation after generation from father to son. In that way, a male Bricker living today may have a "genetic signature" unchanged or very little changed from that which his direct Bricker ancestors had hundreds of years ago. And there's a very high likelihood that men who today share both the same last name and the same or similar genetic signature also share the same ancestor from some point in the past. By submitting a small sample of his Y-chromosome (no needles or blood sample necessary!) for analysis to a lab specializing in "genetic genealogy", men over 18 years old who were born with the Bricker surname can participate in this Project, to track Bricker family lines by finding out which among us share common ancestors and genealogies. While only Bricker men may directly contribute a sample of their Y-chromosome for use in this project, your help is also very much needed if you are married to such a Bricker, or have a living brother, father, son, or paternal grandfather, uncle, or male first cousin who is a Bricker by birth. Please pass on this email message to him, and encourage his participation if the Project goals interest you. In fact, you may want to forward this email to any of your Bricker relatives who you think might be interested, and encourage them to visit our webpage as well. The more that participate, more use this project will be to everyone participating! For further information on the Project, please visit the webpage at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bricker/index.htm If you are at all interested in pinning down with more certainty who your Bricker ancestors were, and even possibly extending your family line as far back as your European roots, your participation in this BRICKER Surname DNA Project can potentially help you with these goals. Sincerely, Dale Bricker Interim Project Coordinator BrickerDNA@yahoo.com

    1. [MOCASS] An Educational Event for Genealogists
    2. John W Konvalinka
    3. Genealogists, particularly those interested in the use of technology, will meet in St. Louis from 22-24 January 2004 for NGS GENTECH 2004. December 1 is the deadline for the "early bird" registration discount. Since 1993, GENTECH has been the national conference for people interested in GENealogy and TECHnology. In 2002 GENTECH strengthened its infrastructure and expanded its role by becoming a division of the National Genealogical Society. Each year the conference has featured a panel of nationally known speakers who have addressed themselves to every aspect of the use of computer and Internet technology to support genealogical research - to meet the needs of advanced users as well as those just beginning to use technology in their research. This year there will be a special Librarian's Pre-Conference at NGS GENTECH Thursday, January 22, 2004. Details of this special Pre-Conference are at: www.slcl.lib.mo.us/slcl/sc/gentech04/precon-schedule.htm. Information on the entire NGS GENTECH conference can be found at: http://www.eshow2000.com/ngsgentech/register_now.cfm or at the St. Louis Genealogical Society website: www.stlgs.org/gentech2004 John Konvalinka, CGRS(sm), CGL(sm) www.konvalinka.com CGRS (Certified Genealogical Records Specialist) and CGL (Certified Genealogical Lecturer) are service marks of the Board for the Certification of Genealogists <http://www.BCGcertification.org> used under license by certified persons after periodic competency evaluations.
