    2. Kathy Bridges
    3. Hello, Can anyone tell me where I can find a marriage record for Pleasant Hill, Cass County, Mo, October 8, 1875? The bride & groom are William Cooley Smith and Mary (Mollie) Virginia Collins. She was daughter of Foster Collins, he was son of Hezekiah Smith an early Cass County resident. Thanks for you assistance, Kathy Bridges P.S. I have written to Jefferson City, they did not have anything.

    1. County Title "Prest"
    2. Mary Smith
    3. In transcribing an 1869 mortgage, I've run across a term that I hope somebody on this list can clarify for me. The mortage is from H.C. WITHERS and wife to Theodore STANLEY, "Prest of the County of Cass and State of Missouri." "Prest." can be an abbreviation for "President." but what does it mean in this context? Since the Cass County Savings Bank at Pleasant Hill seems to be involved, was STANLEY the President of the bank, chartered by Cass County, so that he could have been described somehow as an officer of the County? In the same document Luke WILLIAMS, the County Recorder, also signs as "agent" of STANLEY. I'd appreciate any help on this problem. Thanks. Mary C. Smith _________________________________________________________________ Don’t just search. Find. Check out the new MSN Search! http://search.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200636ave/direct/01/

    3. These are some definitions of the word "prest" found at the wonderful hyperdictionary.com site: \Prest\, n. [OF. prest, F. pr[^e]t, fr. OF. prester to lend, F. pr[^e]ter, fr. L. praestare to stand before, to become surety for, to fulfill, offer, supply; prae before + stare to stand. See {Pre-}, and {Stand}, and cf. {Press} to force into service.] 1. Ready money; a loan of money. [Obs.] Requiring of the city a prest of six thousand marks. --Bacon. 2. (Law) A duty in money formerly paid by the sheriff on his account in the exchequer, or for money left or remaining in his hands. --Cowell. \Prest\, v. t. To give as a loan; to lend. [Obs.] Sums of money . . . prested out in loan. --E. Hall. --- Mary Smith <carthage42@hotmail.com> wrote: > In transcribing an 1869 mortgage, I've run > across a term that I hope > somebody on this list can clarify for me. > > The mortage is from H.C. 1. Ansley & Catherine (O'Quinn) Paul
    2. Diane O'Quinn
    3. New to List....Would like to find out more about Ansley Paul and his wife Catherine O'Quinn. We have a record of their marriage in Cass Co on 8-7-1844. That is all we know and I would like to find out just how long they might of lived there and if Catherine's first husband, Edmond O'Quinn might of died in this county. A lot of unanswered questions. If anyone can help me please let me know. I tried to e-mail a Dot Bellmer that does lookups in the deed index books. The e-mail came back to me so I might not have a current address for her. Thanks for your help. Diane O'Quinn doquinn@centurytel.net Missouri
