He was united in marriage in 1842 with Miss Judah R. Slinkard, nine children being the result of their marriage, which was unbroken for more than half a century when a little more than a years ago the aged wife was called home. On February 5, 1901, after a lingering illness "Uncle Hez" was summoned to his reqard. His remains were laid to rest in the Leslie cemetery by Trowel Lodge A.F.A.M., of which he was a member in good standing. He was also a consistent member of the M. E. Church South for thirteen years. In 1884, he was elected county judge from his district, during which term our courthouse was erected. Two sons, P. D. and R. B. Estes and three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Chostner, Mrs. Amanda Slinkard and Mrs. Hannah Morrison, with a large number of grandchildren, one brother, Jefferson Este! s of Millersville and from the best information obtainable, two sisters survive to mourn their loss.
