On February 10, 2 o'clock in the morning was a sad hour, when the death angel came and called our loving companion home. Sad indeed it is, when mother cannot answer to the call of her dear little children. After losing all hope of recovery through the aid of medicine, she put her whole trust in the Lord and said just a few days before her departure that she believed the dear Lord was going to send a blessing on her and let her live and be with her dear little children. Sarah was 42 years, 2 months and 16 days old. She professed faith in Christ and was united with the M. E. Church, South at old Ebenezer near Laflin, when she was about fifteen or sixteen years of age. After she was married and moved to Cape Girardeau County, she transferred her membership to Fairview, and in the little cemetery nearby we laid her body to await the resurrection morn. Her funeral was preached by Rev. M. M. Blaese, and Rev. B. You! nt in the presence of a large congregation. Sarah leaves a husband, eleven children, father, mother, two sisters and six brothers to mourn their loss. An infant child and two sisters had gone on before and were waiting to welcome her into the presence of God. While we realize the fact that she did not fear death or the judgment, it grieved us when she took us by the hand and said, "I can't stay with you. I have to take care of my little child", and had them all called to her bedside and with a loving smile, kissed them good bye.
