I have land grant papers made out to an ancestor, Jacob LaRue. He was in Oregon Co. at the time, (March, 1860) giving him ownership to 40 acres he had bought in Jackson, MO. I can't locate him in the census there so think he may have moved on to Jackson that year by the time the census was taken. Certainly would appreciate any helpavailable. Thanks, N. Stevenson

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/2JB.2ACE/411.1 Message Board Post: YES!!!! I'm having trouble with Ancestry. I was having the same trouble with hanging everthing up trying to scan census. I wrote them an e mail but they didn't respond. The census thing has cleared up somewhat but it's really hard even getting pages to open. I had my computer checked and was told no problem there. Most other sites work good for me so I have to believe it's not my computer. It's a shame they don't even respond to a problem and try to fix it. They have no trouble accepting your money and right on the ball when it's time to renew! Ancestry has so much information I hate to drop them, but if you can't get access it's not worth it. I didn't know if anyone else was having the problem or it was just me. Norma

I do not know their wedding date or if they were married in the county. I do know that in the 1930 Census they were both still single and I do know the date of their first born child. They lived in Illinois but may have made a day trip to get married there. Alot of people from the area they lived in went over to Cape Girardeau County to get married during that time period. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I am unable to travel to Cape Girardeau County being that I live many states away. Thanks again for any help.

Does anyone have easy access to a Jackson City Directory or phone book for that time frame who would be willing to do a quick check for me? Thanks Ned, just outside Niagara Falls

Some of his kids were born there. There is another large Dowty family from Ohio, (another Reuben) that moved to Missouri also. Most of Reuben Austin Dowty's kids moved to Louisiana. I don't have much on James, more on Polly because she married a Masterson, and Nancy Dowty married a Masterson, other Dowty women married into the Randol family. Mastersons and Randols are my main lines. Let me know if you run across anything new. Mallory
