    3. There is no Randles Township--this is a community in the very southern part of Cape Girardeau Co. 1. [MOCapeGirardeau ] Wills, Probate and Estate Settlement Records
    2. BILL EDDLEMAN
    3. You have a couple of options: 1. The Cape Girardeau Co. Genealogical Society will do paid research at $10/hour, minimum of 3 hours. You get more than you pay for when you do this! Send specific request for research and a SASE to the society at PO Box 389, Jackson, MO 63755, or email Betty Mills, Corresponding Secretary, at bmills@clas.net The web site for the Society (which more researchers should join!) is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mocgcgs/index.htm 2. Contact the Cape Girardeau Archive Center: archive@capecounty.us They will look up wills, probate, and estate files, and copy them for $1 per page or $0.15 for microfilm copies. Their web page is: http://www.showme.net/CapeCounty/archive/Fees.htm >Date: Thu, 25 Mar 2004 07:59:53 -0500 +>From: "Dean Reily" <Dean@Reily.org> >Subject: [MOCapeGirardeau ] Wills, Probate and Estate Settlement Records > >During the period 1860 to 1870 real property and real estate >of James I. 1. [MOCapeGirardeau ] Re: Stephen Lyle Hale and Agnes M. Fenton
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2JB.2ACE/450.1 Message Board Post: Your request for information on Stephen Lyle HALE and his wife intrigued me. I began with the 1880 Cape Girardeau Census page 211 where the following is listed: #37 Cape Girardeau Township HALE Stephen 36 Agnes 26 wf Harry 4 son Clarence 3 son Bertrand 2/12 son FENTON Anna 23 s-sister Then research failed. I could not find any Hale or Fenton marriages in published indexes up to 1900 Then an idea popped into my head. Check the Oct 10, 1927, newspaper for Agnes's death. Well I hit gold!!! Agnes did not live in Cape County or Missouri when she died!! The article says: DEATH ---- E. Harry Hale, of Rural Route 2, was called to Detroit, Mich., today by the death of his mother there. Funeral services and burial will take place in Detrot. C. C. Hale, 623 South Sprigg Street, is another son of the deceased. Then I looked into published obit indexes and found the clipping of E. Harry Hale's death. I want you to have it as it proves this is Stephen & Agnes' son but is also lists more brother and sister's names as well as a half-borther as survivors...so-o-o his mother remarried! I could look up marriage date for all members of the HALE familiy if you want but it requires a trip to the Cape County Court House in Jackson, MO. Please send me your address so I can send the obit to you - also email me what other information you need. I cannot find Stephens death or obit. I wish you had an exact date of death! Blessings, Ruth at kastenre@ldd.net

    2. Dean Reily
    3. During the period 1860 to 1870 real property and real estate of James I. Riley valued at about $60,000 was transferred in about equal portions to his wife Elizabeth and his son James E. Riley . I would expect there to be a will, probate and estate settlement records that will determine when James I. Riley died. Based on other research he may have been declared incompetent rather then having died. James I. Riley was born in about 1813 and would have been 47 to 57 years old at the time the transfer of his assets took place. He was reported to be an iron monger and hardware merchant and resided in Cape Cirardeau City from about 1844 to 186x. He was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania. I will appreciate some advice from members of the list on how to go about researching will, probate and estate settlement records remotely. I am currently living in Florida.
