>From the evidence I've seen, victims were treated at home, or at best taken to local hospitals. I know of no influenza camps. People were buried at family, church, or public cemeteries just as if they had not died in the epidemic. There were quite a number of deaths, including five members of the Fred HANEBRINK family who I've seen buried at Trinity Lutheran Church at Egypt Mills that died between 2 and 15 Feb 1920. I've not seen any information on your Link family. ----Bill Eddleman >To all those replying to this post. I am aware that the influenza epidemic was > a worldwide epidemic. I'm trying to organize my Crites Family File for posterity! Need clarification on the following: Probate records were filed on 31 Oct 1837 by David Grounds in Cape Girardeau County on the estate of Peter Grounds. He left the following heirs. Margaret Crites Grounds, widow (she was daughter of Davault and Sophia Crites) Children: Margaret Grounds Bollinger, Which Bollinger did she marry? (some sources list her as the wife of Daniel, but with the same heirs as her sister Barbara) Sophia Grounds Yount, wife of Henry Barbara Grounds Bollinger, reputedly wife of Daniel Bollinger, but this is questionable. Elizabeth Grounds Statler, Which Statler did she marry? Polly Grounds Mouser, wife of Isaac Mouser David Grounds (m. Rachel Shell). David died 1840, leaving his wife and daughter Margaret. The above named children are all that appears in the estate records. Looking for proof of these questionable marriages. Any help is appreciated, Lorena

My great grandparents, Joseph and Josie Link died during this time according to family legend. I have not been able to prove these dates or locate the burial location. I do know that it is most likely they died before Sep 1918 as they do not appear on the 1920 census and their children appear in the 1920 census living with the oldest daughter Ethel Palmer. If Joseph were alive in Sep 1918, he should have signed up for the WW I draft and I find no draft record for him. I am trying to determine if their were influenze camps in the area or where they might have been taken if they were sick. They don't appear on the Cape County Poor Farm records. Any suggestions?
