    3. I had family buried at Mt. Calvary cemetery in St. Joseph. I have lived here all my life. Mt. Calvary was owned by the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. I am not absolutely positive about this, but, as far as I know there are NO graves or headstones left at what was known as Mt. Calvary. The hill on which the cemetery stood has been removed. It is flat there now. They moved what graves and headstones they could. I don't know what they did with the dirt that was taken off that hill. Probably used it for landfill someplace. Like you said, the people at Mt. Olivet (yes, this is a Catholic cemetery) told me that they moved what they could find to Mt. Olivet. If there were headstones they were moved with the person buried there. If there were graves without headstones they were moved to Mt. Olivet and buried where they had room. I guess the Catholic Diocese neglected the cemetery and it was vandalized all the time, and was always overgrown with weeds etc. My husband lived near this cemetery as a child, and they cut through the cemetery on their way to school. He remembers that it was never in good condition. That's about all I can tell you. Hope this helps a little bit.
