I find him with his parents in the 1850 census. Parents are Francis B. and Rosana(?) Robidoux. The census is hard to read. Siblings look like Pauline, Joseph and another female I cannot make out. I think the 1821 date you have found is his uncle. Francis B. was one of six sons of Joseph. He also had a brother named Felix and I see a patern in this family with the name Felix, Francis and Joseph. I will try to simplify the line here: (1) JOSEPH and Catherine Robidoux. Joseph was a Canadian Frenchman who moved from Montreal to St. Louis shortly after the the French settled there. The first general assembly of the State of MO was held in his house in 1812. Children: JOSEPH, Antoine, Isadore, Francis, Michel, Louis and one sister. (2) Joseph Robidoux (St. Joseph namesake) married 1st, Eugenie Delslille at St. Louis, born Aug. 10, 1783, when he was 18. One child from this marriage, Joseph E, who spent his life among the indians. Four years after this marriage, his wife died. Joseph married 2nd, Miss Angelique Vaudry, also of St. Louis in 1813. Children: Faraon, Jules C., FRANCIS B., Felix, Edmond and Charles. There was one daughter who became Mrs. S. P. Beauvis (3) Francis B. (see above) There is unlimited info on Joseph of St. Joseph. Many of his siblings and children lived and died in the area. I know there is a main streen in St. Joe named for one of his sons, Faraon. A few tidbits I found: Database: St. Louis, Missouri Marriages, 1804-76 Name Spouse Marriage Date Volume/Page Francis August Beauvais Sylvanie Agnes Robidoux 26 April 1847 03-402 Rosine Guion Francis B Robidoux 16 July 1839 02-180 Francis B Robidoux Rosine Guion 16 July 1839 02-180 The last 2 are Felixs' parents. I have seen the name as Roubidoux. Looking at that spelling for Felix, I found a Civil War record for that name. He fought for the South in Texas, 3rd Texas Cavalry, Private. I have 2 books and a CD on the history of Buchanan County and St. Joseph. If you live out of town you may be able to get an inter-library loan for: History of Buchanan County, 1881 The Daily News History of Buchanan County and St. Joseph, 1898. There is a volume of info on the Robidoux clan in those books. Best of luck. Chuck McCardie Farley, Platte, MO
