    1. [MOBUCHAN] Stewarts in Buchanan County
    2. I am searching for any information regarding my Stewart family that came to Buchanan County in the mid 1800's. One member of the family was Dr. Robert Stewart who was a confederate in the Civil War. He served as a physician in Texas. I think this family lived in St. Joseph, but there is a town called Stewartsville in the county. I know that there is another Stewart family in the area so it might have been their home. My Stewarts did live in Stewartsville, Warren County, NJ prior to coming to Missouri. My family group sheet is below. Judith K. Arthur Name: Thomas G. He also owned and operated a flour mill. He sold his property and moved to St. Louis, MO in 1843. He lived near the corner of Pine and Seventh Street.9 In the Federal census of 1850, Thomas and Christiana are living in New York in Brooklyn. He is listed as a merchant. 7 According to another source, Thomas G. Stewart came to St. Louis in 1854, engaging in general merchandise at the corner of Main and Pine Streets for a number of years, but failed in the financial crash of 1857.
