Hello. I am new to the list and am tracing my VanMeter and McCandless family members in Buchanan County. My great-grandfather Bailey Mack Van Meter was born in 1870 and died in 1939. According to an obituary someone on another Rootsweb list told me about, his mother -- Mary Van Meter -- died 30 Jan. 1919 at age 85. Her maiden name was Mary Jane McCandless. She married Joseph H. Van Meter 12 Sept 1865 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Is anyone else on this list is researching the VanMeter or McCandless families? Best wishes, JoLynne Walz Martinez
